16 Year Olds Have Strong Opinions As Well! I feel very strongly about this and would love to hear all your opinions back on the subject! Enjoy... So what does this mean, being 'independent'? The dictionary meanings: Not influenced or affected by others Free from outside control Capable for thinking or acting for itself In 1707, the Act of Union between Scotland and England took place, which meant they became a single state. There was one government, one head of state, and one nation for two countries. 300 years later, an SNP government got into power with a one-seat majority. The Scottish National Party (SNP) is one of the ... Read the complete review

“O Flower of Scotland, When will we see Your like again, That fought and died for, Your wee bit Hill and Glen, And stood against him, Proud Edward's Army, And sent him homeward, Tae think again.” ~ ~ This is the opening verse of Scotland’s “unofficial” National Anthem, that the vast majority of Scots use in preference to “God save The Queen”, especially at international football and rugby matches, and when in their cups at Hogmany. (New Year’s Eve) It was penned by the folk group, “The Corries”, back in 1966, and it celebrates one of the most famous battles in Scottish history, when King Robert the Bruce defeated the ... The UK Government was, in reality, broke, with its begging ... Read the complete review

Having just watched Braveheart the other night, it got me thinking - would independence from the rest of the UK be a good thing for Scotland? Yes and no is the simple answer. We have our own Scottish Government, yet many decisions affecting Scotland are still made in Westminster, many, many miles away. We already have, and always have had, a completely separate national health service to that in England & Wales. Our education system is different from that in England & Wales, with different curriculum, holidays, exams, grades etc. Differences in the educational system even extend to university education, where a ... Waited a couple of days to write this review as i waited on a product suggestion being answered. Interestingly the subject of Scottish Independence has never come up here before. I decided to write a review on Scottish Independence last week as i saw on the news a little snippet on English attitudes to us up North. The article was about the successor to Tony Blair, ie Gordon Brown. Apparently 51% of those questioned in England said they didnt agree with a Scot being Prime Minister. (despite the fact Tony Blair was born in Edinburgh so is technically Scottish lol) Why is there such resentment and why does England want to push ... Read the complete review
