The SPL is the top league in Scottish Football today and consits of 12 teams who each play 38 games, each team 3 times, and then a top and bottom spilt is made and the teams from each side play each other once. The league consits of Rangers, Celtic, Aberdeen, Dundee United, Hearts, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Kilmarnock, Motherwell, St Mirren, Hibernian, Falkirk and Hamilton. Ok, so here's my rant of the current state of Scottish Football. I am a Motherwell fan and also a season ticket holder at Fir Park, so I go every second week to the games. However, although I do support a poor football team before anyone starts, it's not only Motherwell that I see in that same sense. We have the Old Firm, made up of Celtic and Rangers, who have and still do dominate the game up here, but it has been very well known that they want to leave Scotland and go to England. Scottish football will be better off all round if the Old Firm pack up and play somewhere else. It'll be good for them and in the long run good for the Scottish game. The Glasgow giants need competitive football all season long if they're ever going to make any great impact on the European Stage, and they certainly aren't getting that at the moment, with it being a two horse race for the SPL title. Meanwhile the remaining clubs need to be released from their unrealistic attempts to keep pace with the Old Firm. It's never going to happen, the other 10 will never have the financial resources to match them. What Rangers and Celtic pay ...
