Second life is exactly what it says on the tin - a second life. You have a world you can explore, earn real money and meet real friends. My experience with second life has been a mixture of bad and good. The good being some of the friendly people I have met, beautiful environments that you can explore, millions of hilarious objects that you can play with and the escapism it offers. The bad would be creepy players who try and hit on your, with fake genitals protruding from their overly macho character (you just know they're nothing like this in their first life.) Another bad thing would be money, unless you have it you are slightly restricted in ... Read the complete review

Secondlife is an online community for over 18 year olds to login and chat to friends, create rooms and even setup your own virtual business. Secondlife is run by Linden Labs in the United States. It has offices all over the world that operate the large community. When you first join Secondlife you are asked for bank details or a paypal email address which worried me at first because I thought you had to pay to use the service. Once I had become a little more familiar with the game I understood that it was if I wanted to buy linden dollars (which is their currency in the game). You could even transfer the money back into your paypal account for later use - how ... Read the complete review

Second Life. Second Life is an online virtual world which is extremly unique and not like anything else on the internet today. When the game was released, it was a completly blank world. Only filled up with one or two little areas from the game creators, the rest was left blank for it's players to create in any way, shape or form they desired. You have your own avatar in Second Life which is fully customizable, you can change your sex, age, skin colour, hair, clothes, nails, accessories.. practically everything. Your allowed to pick whatever first name you would like and then you have to pick from a designated list of last names. I think this is a ... Read the complete review

Second Life is an internet phenomenon that has sprung up in the last few years. It is basically an online community of people, who can talk and instant message one another. There are apparently over a million residents, although around a tenth of this uses it on a regular basis. It is famed for its ability for players or "residents" to make money in game called "Linden Dollars" and then convert it back into money in the real world. Many people find it overwhelming at first to get used to the sheer volume of places to explore and people to meet. What's more is that almost the entire world is user created. There is huge access to programmers and ... Read the complete review

First of all, I don't know why this is in the discussion section as it's a website and is being reviewed as such. I first learnt about Second Life (SL) when reading an article in the Guardian, they're always going on about the latest web trends - apparently SL is a new and exciting part of cyber space where you can socialize, buy land, make a bundle, fulfill you're dreams, and even change sex. So I decided to sign up. There are many advanced features in SL such as learning to program so that you can make objects and do other 'advanced' stuff etc, but here I am just telling you what a newcomer or beginner is likely to confront after they've first signed up. ...
