Sheffield United - Blade for Life For those who do not follow the sport, I think it is quite hard to appreciate just how mental draining watching football matches can become for those passionate fans who follow their club or country wherever they may play. Over time, football has captivated the hearts over the international arena and it is now the most if not one of the most widely played and followed sports in the world! I myself played football until the age of eleven or twelve and would have liked to have continued, but my cricketing playing commitments had got too high, and I could no longer give my team the drive that I needed to perform. ...  Read the complete review

Well it's the New Year and I think that enough of the season has passed now that I can make an informed review of my boyhood team. Sheffield United are currently lying 3rd in Division One (not a bad effort some may say), however by last season's standards maybe should be better. Last season, to give anyone who doesn't know some background, we finished 3rd in the league and got to the semi-finals in both cup competitions. Not bad for a first division team. Anyway, 3rd in the league meant we were in the playoffs and consequently our whole season came down to one match, which we lost, and therefore were not promoted when maybe we should have done better. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Sheffield United F.C.: My "Sheffield United" experience (440 words)

Match ------ Pretty boring really... not really a lot happened - HOWEVER when your third in the division you get ALL the luck - united got every 50-50 ball, got some VERY odd decisions out of the referee, got every bobble and miss kick, and scored two goals out of nothing chances really. That is not to say they didn’t deserve the result they got, but Derby must feel aggrieved by some of the decisions. United din however hustle and bustle for every ball, MOAN at the referee for every decision, put their arms up EVERY time the ball went out of play (even if it had obviously come of a united player). Warnock has got them well-trained and very fit. They ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Life is never dull when you follow the blades! (936 words)

I've been a football fan ever since I can remember, and as I grew up in the Midlands, I had so many teams to choose from, that I never really became affiliated with any of them. All my friends suppported West Brom or Wolves, though others were Villa and Birmingham followers. Just to be different I kind of followed Coventry, but apart from winning the FA cup with an own goal in 1987, it was a very boring team to follow, and until I went to university I had never actually been to watch a match. However, I chose to continue my studies in Sheffield, and was particularly keen to get properly behind a team. It was 1990, and the choice was simple - follow the Owls, ...  Read the complete review

Well what a weekend for Sheffield United, this is the team I have supported all my life but I will try and give you a honest opinion of the weekends events. For all of you who have not seen the sports news the match between Sheffield United and West Brom this Saturday had to be abonned after 82 mins due to Sheffield United only having 6 players. This I believe is the first time such a thing has happened in the new 1st div. Sheffield united or the blades as the will be known as from this point were reduced to 6 men due to 3 players been sent off and 2 players claiming to be injured. Of course the referee did as he had to the rules state that ...  Read the complete review
