Well what a weekend for Sheffield United, this is the team I have supported all my life but I will try and give you a honest opinion of the weekends events. For all of you who have not seen the sports news the match between Sheffield United and West Brom this Saturday had to be abonned after 82 mins due to Sheffield United only having 6 players. This I believe is the first time such a thing has happened in the new 1st div. Sheffield united or the blades as the will be known as from this point were reduced to 6 men due to 3 players been sent off and 2 players claiming to be injured. Of course the referee did as he had to the rules state that when a team is down to 6 players the match has to stop. So there was nothing he could do but call the match off. As it says above did they cheat well Gary Megson the manager of west brom is making allegations that Sheffield United wanted the match to be called off and there players were not injured. Well lets look at the facts why would Sheffield United want the match to be stooped they are in mid table no danger of going down and no chance of going up. So why would they want to stop the match and get a replay. Also Sheffield United have stated that they feel the result should be given to West Brom. It seems very strange that Gary Megson what say this without proof, he says he heard the coaching staff of Sheffield united shouting to their players to get themselves sent off or claim injury. I really do feel this is a little far fetched what would Sheffield united have to gain if more players got sent off apart from players been banned and fines been imposed on the club for bad behaviour. But if his comments are proven Sheffield United must take the action of sacking Neil Warnock how manager. As that kind of thing should not be goingh on at our football club. Megson also says that M Brown the Sheffield united player to come off ran down the tunnel which is true but
this player has been carrying a knock for a while and is going in for a operation very soon. Warnock can be seen telling the player to leave the field even though he has no subs left but when the team are 3 nothing down with only a few minutes left what is the point of risking the player. Also Rob Ullathorne the final player to become injured and leave the field was looked at by the referee who decided he could not carry on. But even though I disagree with Gary Megson on the point we cheated I do agree that the behaviour of some of our players was a disgrace. The first red card was for Simon Tracey he was sent off for handling the ball outside of his box no problem here simple mistake but he had to go. But the red cards for Santos and Suffo are a different matter the behaviour of these two players was terrible and there is no place for them at our football club. They entered the field of play as the final two substitutes and were sent off within 2 mins of entering the field of play. I believe that Santos came onto the field of play with one thing on his mind and that was to take revenge on the west brom player Johnson who last season caused him a horrific injury. The injury was caused by Santos been elbowed in the face by Johnson which smashed the cheek bone of Santos and also nearly caused him to go blind. I can understand the player wanting revenge but the football field is no place for it. Moving onto the red card for suffo well this player head butted a player in front of the ref. but this is no surprise as before he joined our club he had been banned in France for six months for head butting a linesman. Both these players have since been told by Sheffield United football club that they have no future at the club so I feel this is proves Sheffield United did not ask the players to behave like they did. So I will conclude by saying that I don’t believe Sheffield United cheated but they just were guilty of some really bad beha
viour from there players. I think the club should be fined but any other punishment would be over the top and not fare on the clubs fans. Hope you enjoyed reading my thoughts.

- 25/03/02 I gave U, not because it was a bad op - it wasn't - so please don't think I'm dissing it as U is not a bad rating at all. It's just I found it a bit difficult to read as there are a few grammer/spelling mistakes - they can be a bit distracting. |

- 24/03/02 I would have said 'f#ck off you absolute loser' to project, but I won't as he is a nice guy who has just got a little confused and the wrong end of the stick. This is not a revenge rating, there is nothing wrong with giving someone a 'U' rating. Disgraceful refered to the incident of the match being called off. I am very irritated. Thank you. |
