Advantages: It is not available in shops.
Disadvantages: It may calm you down!
Is it drugs in general that lead to using harder drugs or is it only the illegal drugs that lead to harder drugs? Is it that ALL mind bending drugs, character changing drugs and drugs that cause physical and psychological dependency are the stepping stone to 'hard' drugs? Or is it only SOME of the above drugs make people move on to harder and harder drugs? Well, I guess, judging by what appears to be the general consensus regarding drugs is that it is only drugs which are not yet socially acceptable that are the first step to 'hell'. Tobacco doesn't lead onto hard drugs and either does alcohol. Does it? Surely, if they did, they would be banned! But then a little drinkie doesn't hurt does it? A few beers after work down the pub can't do too much damage can it? A good ole knees up is good for you, surely! What! Me smoke a spliff?! I don't think so! That relaxing, calming, hasn't killed anyone before Drug! No chance, Beer/ whiskey/ Wine is MY poison. At least it is legal. Check out the Domestic Violence board and see how many victims have fallen foul of a cannabis smoker. Oh, that reads '0'. Oh, they more or less ALL drink that wonderful, socially accepted, good for you, kills more people than ALL hard drugs PUT TOGETHER does. But at least it is LEGAL! ============================================= Addition: It seems that those reading the above, have missed the irony and the sarcasm. You may not even have read it properly and merely skim read it. I am guilty of the same thing and so I understand. My main point above was that people will accuse cannabis, and indead other illegal drugs of all sorts, conveniently forgetting that the fact is that Alcohol, tobacco and prescription tranquillisers are the real killers in the land of drugs. Alcohol kills more people than do all the hard illegal drugs ALTOGETHER.
>I was having a dig, imitating but adding my own tongue in cheek 'justification' to what I have heard too many times before. Just to ensure that my point is clear. Alcohol and tobacco and tranquillisers all cause more death and destruction than cannabis ever could.

- 29/08/01 people don't need to move on past gateway drugs to ruin their lives. I don't think many of you have evr seen lifelong potheads and what happens to a long term user. They do not use heroin or kill people, but they are content to do nothing constructive. I have seen lots of people like that. Furthermore, ask the passengers of that Amtrak train that crashed in Maryland in 1992 if the THC in the drivers system was harmless. |

- 22/06/01 A Police Officer went into a school to talk to the students about dangerous drugs. He asked the students if they wanted to know about the really dangerous one first. They did. "Right" he said "Alcohol....." The problem with cannabis so far as I can see (and I've got to confess to being an illegal substances virgin) is the criminality of it - and the crime that that fact in turn spawns. |

- 25/05/01 To be honest, I can only rate this useful because I completely missed the sarcasm at first. Your points are valid (in this argument!), but maybe you should tweek the early part of your review to make it a little more obvious. I don't use drugs so I can't really condemn or praise its use. |
