I'm in the wrong position to write this after doubling the money I had in online accounts since sunday via "safety bets" (bets on an event, during running where the event is almost certain, I.e. Rushden and Diamons 3-0 up at half time, you bet on them to win, I got 1-80 on them last night, the game finished 5-0 and I made 1.25% profit). Now of course gambling like anything is bad if you over do it (alcohol, nicotine, even water can kill you in excesses), but it's the keeping to a sustainable that people, not a government must control. I'll get on to this later though. Online gambling can currently be done on just about any sporting event ...

To be honest, I'm not that much of a gambler, at least not on other people's (or animal's) skills. I have been known to bet a few bob on myself on the golf course, but then the outcome is in my own hands, and if I lose then I only have myself to blame. (Have to say I've won far more than I've lost over the years at the golf) But I do have a couple of online accounts with bookmakers, my two main accounts being with Ladbrokes and Paddy Powers (The Irish bookies) I opened them as I like to have a wee flutter on the larger professional golf tournaments, and occasionally I'll lay a few Euro on a football match I'm planning to watch on the TV. I should probably start this review off with a confession which may sway my view on online gambling: I work in online gambling. Time for another confession? My other half also works in online gambling, as do a lot of my friends. I've been in the industry since 2003, having started out in Sportsbook gambling, moved over into offline for a little while for a stint on-course, and now I'm firmly back online, but working on Casino and Games instead of Sports. Needless to say, I don't think that there is any reason for online gambling to be made illegal. I just wanted to talk a little bit about why not. The legal situation in the USA ...
