Should prostitution be legalised?

Should prostitution be legalised? Well the simple answer I would give you is yes. As has been said a million times before prostitution is the oldest profession in the world, it will never go away, so why waste resources arresting prostitutes and the users. I personally can see no harm in a prostitute performing a service, providing it is with her consent, in return for cash. Many of us offer our bodies in different ways each day in return for cash - just not in a sexual way! However there is one big condition. That is that any services or advances must be carried out in a brothel. Why? Well I will explain my reasoning a bit further.

Safety of the Public

I know an area a couple of miles away from my house which is frequented by prostitutes. It is right outside an all girls school. If you go down there you will see used condoms all around the place. You daren't slow down or you will be approached. I was approached once and had only stopped for a couple of minutes to check an A-Z.

Safety of the Girls

As well as the public being at risk so are the girls. How many times have we heard of working girls being murdered. Remember The Ripper, The Suffolk Murderer. These girls are risking their lives.

Health and Safety

In a Brothel the girls could be screened for diseases. The men forced to wear protection. All the facilities and bedding kept clean. There could also be on site security to protect the girls.

Tax

The government could treat the profession just as that. They could tax the girls and use the money for educating other girls and helping with their drug habits.

If all the above was carried out this would make prostitution a lot safer.

The Alternative

Well we could carry on as we are. The Girls arrested and then released. The clients arrested and released. Condoms thrown everywhere in prostitute areas. Girls being beaten up and raped, even killed. Both the prostitute and client having no where to clean themselves. Women being mistaken for prostitutes and approached. A nightmare for residents in the area.

Well I've had my say. I really can't see why it has not be legalised already!

Summary: Legalise prostitution - just why is it illegal anyway!!

The brothel thing is a good idea. I think taxing it would just mean that you ended up with girls doing it illegally as they are now though.

I dont think the girls would want it to be legal...

i heard about a lady (i think in germany? or somewhere it is less frowned apon)who had to work in a "massage palour" or get her benefits cancelled. This is my main reason for thinking it sdnt be legalised.I would hate to be in a postition where im basically told take the next job you are offered or no benefits(not that im on them)i know i could never do anything like that for money.
