Should prostitution be legalised?

Advantages: It could be made to work for the country

Disadvantages: Oldest profession wont go away

People tend to think of prostitution as an illegal form of income, a disgusting and dirty profession and of course full of disease.
While in most cases this is true, perhaps a new approach can be taken to prevent further problems in the future.
In certain countries such as Holland, it is a legal and clinical profession. The girls are licenced to trade their goods like and normal trader.
This is how it should be run. Too many girls are involved in the illegal side of prostitution in England with little protection from customers and/or pimps.
If it was a legalised profession, the girls could relax, with no worry from these people.
The industry could contribute to the tax office for duty and customers could relax, safe in the knowledge that their girl had be checked recently for disease and has no fear of catching anything.
It seems to be very successful in Holland. Why can it not be the same here.

I'm sure it solves a lot of problems for certain men. It may even contribute to reducing certain types of crime if it lost its illegal millstone from around its neck.
