Should smoking be banned in public places?Newest Review: ... that the toilets stink to high heaven and that cologne/perfume you're wearing whilst smelling fruity on initial application smells like some sort of 99p air freshener? If you're going to criticise someone for smoking then at least 'check yo'self' before you do 8/10 times you don't realise that smelling like an 'ashtray' is prefferable to smelling like you've rolled around in some chemical nonsense and that lime green t-shirt with purple jeans is equally or if not more offenisve to my peepers. We don't live in a 'Free Society' that much is fine, if you want to stop people smoking in public places like a high street then you might as w... more |

You want to ban smoking in public places? Are you really serious about this? Ban drinking in public, ban drinking on public transport and ban anything that affects perception and behaviour in public by all means - maybe it'll make everyone's lives a bit more pleasant. If you believe that, i have some snake oil which cures herpes. No, really i do. It's a power agent which rips the viral DNA from your own - the only down side is it's massively carcinogenic like Malachite Green or the rising mercury levels in fish and some vegetables which you can buy in Tesco's or your local happy shopper/cost cutters. This is probably one of the most straightforward issues in my mind. I grew up with both parents smoking around me and I absolutely detested it and as a result never smoked a cigarette. The smell is abhorrent and more importantly, so are the effects it has on you. In my mind, the very possibility that a person's smoking can inflict upon a non-smoker potentially life threatening illnesses should make the smoking of cigarettes in public banned outright. I am not a smoker. I am however not an anti-smoker. I think the media have tarnished smoking in such a way that lighting up a cigarette in a pub is now the equivalent to walking in with a shotgun and shooting everybody in the chest. So we are led to believe that smoking is a killer, smoking is evil and smoking can only do the world harm. Well I certainly wouldn't recommend it as part of a health regime but recent tests are proving that there actually are some positive health benefits to smoking tobacco! Yes, smoking has a positive!! It is being proven that smoking tobacco can reduce the risk of mental and cognitive disorders usually ... Read the complete review

As someone who has grown up with both parents as smokers, I have a strong view on smoking. Smoking should be banned full stop, let alone in public places. Now, I appreciate this is never going to happen due to the revenue it creates for the government, as well as the national outcry it would cause. However, senseless bans on the grounds of health and safety are common on trivial and menial activities, yet smoking related deaths are the second highest killer behind road deaths in the UK and nothing is done to prevent this. Mind-boggling. It's also frustrating when people try and compare smoking to drinking. If someone in a bar is drinking a pint of ... Read the complete review
