Smoking should definitely be banned in public places, mainly because for every puff you put out, smoke goes with it, and is caught in whatever place you currently are. This smoke gets caught in fabrics, curtains, and can be breathed in by other people. If you want to give your self lung cancer, and heart disease, that's fine by me, but don't do it where other people may be regularly come to.
They breathe in the smoke, and this is known as passive smoking, and although it does not give such a high dose as you may be putting into your lungs, it still can damage young lungs, such as babies, cause asthma attacks on people suffering from this condition, and aggravate other peoples throats.
This causes many people to look at you as a "Dirty smoker" and you will receive many ugly looks from passers by. So just stick to smoking inside your own home, and don't subject yourself to the hate of anti-smokers, and mothers of children who would rather you didn't harm their children in this way.

Summary: Stop smoking, or go to your own home and smoke.
