Should smoking be banned in public places?

I have been a smoker since I was thirteen years old, and I am finding it really hard to quit, or should I say that I can not quit.

I sometimes think that my mother should not have let me smoke, but at the time I didn?t think like that, I was just glad that she let me get on with it. She felt that it was better than me taking drugs and I was being honest with her. I have to agree with her on that because I have never in my life taken drugs in my life, I feel this is because I was quite open with her, and with that I got more freedom, because she knew what I was up to.

Although I am a very heavy smoker, I can not stand being in public places full of people smoking, I find that I get a very bad chest and a bad cough for a couple of days after. You may think that this is because I smoke but it?s not. I am fine when it is just me or a couple of people smoking.

I work part time a bar, I find it very difficult to cope with the smoke, as it is only a little pub, although we do have extractor fans it does not clear all of the smoke.

I feel that smoking should be banned from all public places, as I think that it is unfair on people who do not smoke, because they have to endure this smoke as well. Most places do have designated smoking areas, but these do not work because the smoke is still going to drift across to the non smoking area. Plus when people have had a lot to drink they don?t take any notice of the no smoking signs, and smoke any way.
I think that it would be a very good idea to ban smoking in public places, as it may encourage people to cut down or even quit altogether.

I think that most smokers would agree with this, as there is probably only a hand full of people who actually do not want to give up smoking.

My pet hate is pregnant women who smoke and mums who smoke while carrying their child in a baby carrier on their chest.

I think you'll probably find there are lots of smokers who disagree with you! Even some non-smokers who are flying the civil liberties flag.

You can do it! I gave up in Sept last year after 16 years of 30 a day, you just have to want it enough!
