YES! And up until the end of high school (year 12)(GCSE's) it was. Obesity is thought to be one of the biggest killers in the Western world (while famine(and disease) in the rest of the world! Basically in my high school we had to do P.E - physical education twice a week even if we didn't take PE as a subject. This is great and very useful as with the world we live in nowadays TV and computers make life so easy and entertaining that people - children in particular don't get as much exercise as they used to. Exercise will make you feel better as a person as well, give you a better physique and more attractive to the opposite sex. ...

Sports should be. Children will love sports, well most will, it is better than sitting at home watching tv, playing games console or using the computer. Parks are not as full as say 20 years ago. Schools should be given money to buy equipment to do sports. kids should be forced to do sports because like good diet sports is good for all. There is always a small gang who don't want to do sports and if they don't want to do sports so be it however most will benefit. There are two key points to this. The first is that children (and adults) need to do some kind of exercise. But there is also the point that we are lacking good athletes to compete at the highest level in a number of sports. When I was at School we were split into groups based on how good we were at Cross Country. At first I thought this was stupid as I hated Cross Country and always struggled at it, despite the fact I was a good swimmer. At first glance I was stuck in the group with the overweight and lazy people, but then as time went on I realised that it was actually good fun.
