Advantages: refreshes mind, social networking, fitness, life
Disadvantages: lazy people need encouragement - make it compulsory, ignore excuses
YES!
And up until the end of high school (year 12)(GCSE's) it was.
Obesity is thought to be one of the biggest killers in the Western world (while famine(and disease) in the rest of the world!
Basically in my high school we had to do P.E - physical education twice a week even if we didn't take PE as a subject. This is great and very useful as with the world we live in nowadays TV and computers make life so easy and entertaining that people - children in particular don't get as much exercise as they used to.
Exercise will make you feel better as a person as well, give you a better physique and more attractive to the opposite sex. Exercise will also help you live longer - working out fats prevent clogging and heart attacks.
Many diseases found in the west like Diabetes and obesity are linked by lack of exercise. Treatments are exercise and sports.
---My Advice----
Start exercising from today, but don't over do it, the results of feeling more confident and happy may take a week, or may take more for some. Start of slow with basic exercises and then perhaps take up sports;
Sports is basically exercise in game situations, some more strenuous then others - I'm not sure I'd classify golf, darts and pool as sports (they usually aren't but some people do refer to them as sports)
Sports will also help you socialise and make new friends, you will easily make very close friends because you will both have something in common - this linkage will be the sport that you both play and have a passion for.
There is generally a sport for everyone, man, woman, child, adult, senior citizen.
If you don't really exercise much i recommend trying a sport like swimming, this way you can take it at your own pace and build skills and muscles and also loose any fat.
Then you could go for football, basketball, cricket etc.
Once you have great athleticism you can keep building it by doing marathons, relays etc.
Sports will never be made compulsory to people of all ages, but is in some places and should in all places be compulsory for children. Sometimes children do not know what is good for them, if they have a lazy attitude to life like most they will ignore taking part in sports, they will loose social opportunities, fresh air (in some cases) and most importantly exercise.
Once you are part of a team sport you are part of a family. All sharing the same interests bonds are often tight and close. Try joining a team and make sports a compulsory part of your life.
You will feel you can concentrate better - studies have shown that kids who participate in sports are often smarter and brighter; sports is refreshing to your mind,
so next time you want to take a break from work, don't switch on the TV, go kick a football around with your friends/family.
As I said sports gives you an extended family, this will reduce crime within youths and yob culture, people often commit crime like vandalism and muggings because they are bored. If they take part in sports they will have something to do, a hobby, a passion, something to use their energy on constructively
Summary: Sports Should Be Compulsory, Its For the Betterment of our nation, grades will increase, yobs will <
