Long live the monarchy (Should the monarchy be abolished?)

So, here we have it, we have a monarchy, one of the few countries that still have one, and it seems most of the country want to get rid of it!! What's all that about????

What you seem to be forgetting is that nowadays a monarchy is not so integral for a country to survive, but a long time ago, it was because of the monarchy that Britain became Great! Without Queen Victoria, would Britian have been so prosperous throughout the 1800s? Without King James would we have had Guy Fawkes night?? Nope we wouldn't, and all the other kings and queens before all of them that gathered together a great empire, that once was more prosperous than all other nations across the globe!

Nowadays with more advanced governments, it is parliament that makes most of the decisions, and if Britian went to war again, it would probably be the Prime minister that made the decisions, but once it was not like that, and that is an important point to remember. You cannot use something so great when needed, and then discard it as soon as some people get bored with it!! That wouldn't be right at all!

The monarchy at the moment provides a good income for the country. Most tourists that visit England, come down to london, and where do they visit....hmmmmm, Buckingham Palace!! Without a monarchy, the tourists wouldn't flock to London to visit the palaces and the changing of the guard etc, and we would not gain as much from the valuable tourist industry in London!

I feel that the monarchy is a national institution, and, although we would survive without it, we should keep it, so we can remain the regal and prosperous country that we are!! Don't abolish the monarchy!
