I've now read numerous reviews on this subject and I have to say I am appalled at the disrespect some of you show towards our Monarchy. I am going to state my case bluntly and to the point and then I shall await to be mauled by the masses.

I for one (and probably the only one it feels like!) do not want to see our country blandly washed in with the rest of Europe and their so called Euro pointless coin that has absolutely no value monetary or otherwise. My Grandfather and thousands of others fought and died for this country and our Queen believing in its laws and its morals.

Some of you claim that Europe and others snigger at our Monarchy but you wait until we finally do away with it and watch them rub their hands in glee. Atlast they'll shout now we truly have a chance to obliterate their laws and disregard their opinions. Why don't we wave the white flag now. Lets spit on the graves of our dead. Lets do away with our integrity and go the way of France. Lets join hands with them and become truly insignificant.

We have always been a force to be reckoned with! We are small yes..compared to the rest of Europe tiny...so why have they always feared us? Continually provoked us? Ganged up against us? Pointed the finger and tut at us? Because its the way of man. We are always envious of those that our above us. Yes we may have done many bad things in the past. Which country hasn't? Germany? France? Russia? When we look at ourselves in comparision to these countries the Monarchy hasn't been so bad has it?

I agree the Queen and her family do not have much power nowadays. Personally I find that sad. She has alot of courage, dignity and respect. True she has had many lessons to learn as we all have but she has sacrificed her life for the good of this country. Atleast tried to set a good example to follow the laws of our land in what must be one of the hardest and most changeable generations of all times. Many call her co
ld, hard faced, unforgiving. I disagree she commands respect, pride and loyalty for our country, borne the humiliation of her mistakes in every newspaper in the land and still she works for us. She has had to live with her role and not deserted it as many in her situation would have.

So go ahead abolish them. Desert your heritage. Join hands with the others and watch our country and its self respect die its final death never to be Great no more. Laugh and scorn our National Pride and scoff at Gods wisdom to elect a Monarchy for this country to rule with a rod of iron and become a ruler amongst the nations. (Note I am not religious but this is a fact noted in St James version of Bible). Shout at our elders what a waste of time it was fighting and dying for our country but before you do.....take a trip to France and stay there.
