Should the TV licence be scrapped?Newest Review: ... 75, or live with an over 75, your licence is free. In my house, I pay £60 a month for my Sky subscription (plus Broadband and Phone), yet I still find myself paying £36.89 every 4 months for my TV licence, this might not sound like much money to alot of people, but infact it is money for us which could be spent on more important things like food and rent. I really don't think it's fair for people who have these TV subscriptions, whether it be Sky, Virgin, BT or any other TV packages you can get, that we also have to pay extra for a license as well. And when I think that the only programmes on the BBC which I watch are actually Eastender... more |

When I first moved into a house on my own (away from my parents), the humble TV licence was something which I hadn't really thought about, I knew that every household had to have one, and that it paid the BBC and a little of it went to other channels (ITV, Channel 4), but that it was mainly for the BBC's funding as ITV and Channel 4 were funded by advertisments during programmes. I always thought a TV licence was coppers a month, around £5 a month and £60 a year, so was actually a little shocked when I got my TV licence and it was £150, which could be split over monthly payments, quarterly payments, half yearly payments or a one off yearly payment. ... Should the TV licence be scrapped? *** Do we need to buy one? Apparently we need a valid licence to watch or record TV programmes shown on TV regardless of whether it's a laptop, PC, mobile phone, digital box, DVD recorder or a TV set - you still need a licence. Although you are allowed to watch video clips online if it is after the show has been on the TV. *** The Cost of all this? A colour TV licence costs £142.50 but there is a cheaper alternative out there. If you still manage to have black and white TV and it actually works then a licence for this will set you back a mere £48.00. If you are even luckier and ... Read the complete review

Is TV, free from advertising worth the cost of a licence i think is the ultimate question when discussing TV licensing. I have Virgin Plus at home and have all the channels but recently I have been doing a mini survey of what I actually watch on TV. I found that the only channels I regularly watched were... BBC1 BBC2 BBC3 BBC4 ITV 2 Living Virgin 1 Bravo The rest (all of the hundred or so channels of rubbish!) I didn't really bother with. I then looked at what happens when adverts come on, you may have noticed that we now have more advertisement breaks during tv programmes. This is ... Read the complete review

BBC TV LICENCE DooYoo Review - dated 19-01-09 ------------------------------------------ TITLED > TV or not TV - that is the question? I'm not preaching any Shakespeare fermented dribble, laced with opium extracts; though pity I can't say the same about the BBC who certainly has over the past half century. Their re-enactments of plays are as frequent as losing the dibber; while caste in a body engulfed sofa. There fascination of using Dante's work - oops sorry Shakespeare famous works is rather baffling. It maybe a patriotic claim that he was once British and therefore stands a foot taller than all other more talented writers. Then again ... Read the complete review

We all have to pay to watch TV, well in fact according to the TV licensing company, we actaully pay for the right to have a radio, PC, VCR, mobile phone. Just about anything that receives data or signal really. Well if you don't have a TV just a radio, would you buy a "TV" license, it's called TV license so why for everything else aswel. If we didn't buy it the BBC would probably then start having adverts to pay for them selves. So if you only watch ITV, should you still buy a license, well if you don't you can be fined, so you don't have much choice. It's really weird, because one license is meant to cover you, and ...
