Advantages: Great Live Sport
Disadvantages: Very few
When I was a kid, I used to love watching television. There were just four standard channels, full of good quality programs that seem to offer pretty much everything. Now we have hundreds of channels offering every kind of programme you can imagine. Yet most of this is just complete rubbish. There seems to be less on TV to watch now than there has ever been.
However there is one channel that I do really spend a lot of time watching. Sky Sports. When I first encountered Sky Sports it was a very simple channel, it offered a game of Premiership football once a week, and to be honest not a lot more. Now Sky Sports has moved on. It now has three main channels, as well as Sky Sports News, and Sky Sports Extra.
Back at the start there was only a limited amount of sport you could watch on Sky. Not however Sky covers a vast multitude of sporting events. Here are the live ones I can think of: Football, cricket, tennis, darts, golf, sailing, basketball, American football, rugby, baseball, speedway, skiing and probably many more.
Sky Sports' main focus has always been football. You can watch live football on a few channels these days, but Sky's coverage is second to none. Fronted by Andy Gray, who has to be the best pundit/commentator around, Sky has got all the bases covered. The camerawork is excellent, the technology top class, and the team of presenters, commentators and pundits is excellent (with the odd exception).
Other big sporting events that Sky does wonderfully well are the cricket, currently the World twenty 20 is in full swing. Golf, many European tour events and all the majors are on Sky Sports, and much of the major rugby games are covered.
Sky Sports also covers more extreme sports. There are shows that cater for every sporting taste and there is really something for everyone on these channels.
Overall this is a wonderful set of channels. Sky sports has come along way over the years, they are by far the best when it comes to live events and cover so many kinds of sport that whatever your after, chances are you will find it on Sky Sports.
Summary: Great channel if your into your sport!
