Snooker in General

Description: Sports: Snooker

Newest Review: ... Their achievement should have been recognized as the same as those who play football or who swim. Sadly, this is not the case possibly because there is not enough promotion for the sport and there may be common perception that the game is so boring for people who want something more fastly paced. --- the BASICS --- Snooker is a game played on a table with 6 pockets. On the table there are ... more

... 22 balls, 1 white cue ball, 1 yellow (2), 1 green (3), 1 brown (4), 1 blue (5), 1 pink (6), 1 black (7) and 15 red balls (1). The aim of the game is to pot all the balls in a determined sequence, and a game is won when there are no longer points...more

Premium Review Snooker in General: Snooker: not as boring as you may think! (625 words)

I like watching snooker. There are a lot to offer to the audience in this game: the rules of the game, the ever-changing scenarios of the table, the characters of the players, the tactics and the plans, the shades of the balls and may be more. Some people may think that the rhythm of the game is a bit slow but I consider it as a game engineered by the complex human mind. The calculation of the angles and the potting of the balls create different scattered situation which to me is a science or mathematics. To this day, I still do not understand why this is not accepted officially as a sports event in the Olympic game and any other official sports events. Great legends of ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Snooker in General: Snooker Loopy Nuts Am I (599 words)

I really love playing and watching snooker. It's a great social game to play because whilst you are lining up and playing the shot there is a deathly silence but in between shots there is lots of banter including mickey taking regarding a hopeless shot and sometimes admiration for playing a great shot. I really enjoy the tactical side of snooker when I play it. I am not such a good potter of the balls so I focus on my strength which is safety play and tactics. In the average frame that I play I get about 50% of my points from foul shots that I mostly induce from my opponent. I find safety play far easier than potting. With potting the margin for ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Bent as a Two Bob note? (1666 words)

There are no words in the English language that rhyme with 'orange', 'silver' or 'purple', and, come to think of it,' snooker', and some say one of those new colors is seriously needed right now on the pristine green tables to generate new interest, 147s somewhat routine these days. In what is a very colorful game there's a distinct lack of it in 2008, those plain waistcoats and boring players who look like warehousemen not very sexy. Ronnie O`Sullivan, with his customary rant when the terrestrial TV cameras are in town, was particularly scathing on the sport that has provided him with a very nice living, thank you very much! He was demanding someone like Simon Cowell to ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Snooker in General: Great Balls of fire! (1758 words)

When Snooker is televised on the BBC, nothing but Athletics will prompt me to turn over. I find Snooker a very engaging sport to watch, but an even more enjoyable one to play. Back in my University days, I had a lot of free time in between lectures and the pub, and this time was occasionally spent in Riley's Snooker Club, off the Cowley Road in Oxford, with a fellow Snooker obsessive. A lot of my school life involved playing physically exasperating sports such as Rugby and Football, but Snooker was a welcome relief from that. It requires methodical, technical and tactical skill and intricate attention to angles and detail. About ...  Read the complete review
