Nowadays you'll find speed cameras on any major road to country lane. They're usually placed at accident blackspots and places where congestion is a problem. The speed limit in residential areas is 30mph, or 20mph in some school zones. I think this is a good idea. Stopping at a speed greater can serious injure or kill ... Read the complete review

D’yer know, I’ve never been caught by a speed camera. Well, at least one of those predominantly yellow coloured boxes that hang out from the side of a street or a main drag. Of course, I have been done for speeding (shame on me) although those points expired some time ago as the offences took place way back in 1998 (only 2 incidents ... Read the complete review

There once was a man called Idris Francis, a vintage car owner of retirement age who was caught by a speed camera in Hampshire, March 2003. This story is going somewhere, I promise you. More precisely, it was Mr Francis' car that was caught, because the speed camera only catches the car and not the driver. The local ... Read the complete review

I'm sick and tired of hearing people complaining about speed cameras. They moan that the cameras are just a way of making money and the government should admit it blah blah blah. However it is really quite simple. If you don't want to be caught speeding and have to pay a fine DON'T SPEED. I am a driver and I admit that I ... Read the complete review

Speeding and speed cameras, what a fiasco. 90% of them are nothing but revenue raisers. I am a bit of an expert on driving so here is my view. What gives me the right to this opinion? 1. I am a qualified driving instructor. 2. I am an advanced driver, and have passed my advanced driving test. Speed cameras are one of ... Read the complete review

I can guarantee that either yourself or someone you know has been caught speeding recently or in the past. The question that needs to be answered is; are speed cameras there to reduce accidents? or are they simply there to earn money to plough straight back into putting more speed cameras on our roads? That is what the current ... Read the complete review

A stretch of three lane motorway, a 50mph limit, why? Because I think that it might be dangerous to drive faster at some times like in the rush hour or when it is icy or snowy or foggy. I think also it keeps traffic flowing better in busy times. But at 4 in the morning in the middle of summer on a dry road with no other traffic in sight ... Read the complete review

Speed Cameras. The saviour of innocent lives in some peoples eyes, a hinderence to decent moterists in others. To decide, we have to think about the speed limits themselves. In my opinion, the problem with the current speed limits is that they are non-flexible. For instance, is speeding on a motorway equally dangerous at rush hour as it ... Read the complete review

Driving along the other day, well over the limit, I had one of those moments that set your heart racing. A police officer, standing next to his car at the side of the road appeared to be signalling me to stop. Several thoughts flashed through my mind as I checked the speedo - firstly was I going fast enough to have my license taken away ... Read the complete review

As a driver in the UK you are required to take and pass both a theory and a practical test. This gives you the and the trust to be in charge of a vehicle on our roads, the giving of a licence also gives some trust to the fact that an examiner has trusted you to be aware and responsible of everything on the road and around you. ... Living out in the country has it's advantages, peace and quiet, nice walks, fresh air and hardly any traffic. Or so you'd think. Speed cameras are a good thing and I believe anything to prevent accidents should be encouraged but I have to pass on my story to show that everything is not black and white (pardon the pun). Well the first point I guess to make about speed cameras is that the police have taken the concept of hiding under the hood of the old camera and managed to hide 8ft tall grey metal boxes from the unsuspecting motorist.
