It is very hard to find a player that is rock solid in the heart of any teams defence and at the moment you would not be able to find one in the current available first team at old Trafford at this present time, united are leaking goals since their big Dutch defender Jaap Stam had been sidelined through an injury.

United paid around ten million pounds for Jaap Stam and when he first got into the united team you wondered this is what we got for ten million. After he had settled down he looked worth more money than Manchester united had paid for him.

Watching Manchester united play with Stam at the heart of their defence you can see what a world-class player he really is. When the ball is played into united penalty area Stam is head and shoulders above any one else, half the time it looks like united play with a one-man defence.

Jaap Stam gives others confidence that are playing right besides him, he might not be a very skilful player but not too many will get pass him. He also the same when he plays for his national side Holland. I have got nothing but praise for this player because I know he one of the best in the world today in his position.
