When Stam came from Holland for a record fee of ten million. I, thought wow, he must be worth it. I, had never heard of him, all I knew was that he was ' Dutch footballer of the year'. But, I am so impressed.
He is a very good player. He his strong and has pace, and he is good in the air. It is difficult for the strikers to get passed him. I, think if he helps United win the Champions league this season, he would have paid is enormous transfer fee.

Last year, when i saw him play against liverpool he was very good, what impressed me was that for a defender he had the confidence to come out with the ball, and then rather than give it away, has the accuracy to find a player.

A very good buy by Ferguson, I can see him as a United captain in years to come.
