Matthew Stevens is a brilliant snooker player who has achieved so much. After seeing him play a few years ago I saw the amazing potential that he had within him. I remember saying to my dad, he will win the World Championship one day. He has not been a professional for long, but what he has already achieved deserves to be acknowledged as great determination and huge potential. All this has been done in a short space of time.

At the young age of 19 he entered the most important snooker competition of any snooker players dream, The World Championship. Now being 22, he recently entered his 3rd successive World Championship and achieved runner up position. This must have been the highlight of his career so far. He has shown me that if you put in the time and the effort you will achieve what you want some day so long as you continue to work hard at it which does not only apply to snooker or any sport, but anything that you try to succeed at. Matthew played snooker from a very young age and has proven to himself and others that he has got what it takes to become world champion and possibly world number one in the not to distant future.

By only being 22, who has already won 4 major competitions and has been in 3 other major finals within his 6 years as a professional, he has shown his true determination and persistence in the game. He also shows his respect for the game and his opponents by not being to attacking that could possible lead to him loosing the match. But he is a fantastic potter and could probably pot just about anything. His highest personal break is the maximum of 147 but on the professional circuit his highest break that he has achieved is 145. I admire him a great deal and hope that he continues to show his great ability.
