Steve Austin used to be in WCW years ago tag teaming with the now late Brian Pillman. His character was totally different to the rattlesnake he is now, and was back then known as "Stunning" Steve Austin. He was one half of the "Hollywood Blonds", a team that had attitude much like Edge and Christian of today. Yes Austin really had Blond Hair back then
Upon leaving WCW, he headed to WWF under the managment of the Million Dollor Man and was known as "The Ringmaster". He had little luck and wasnt very popular with the fans. However Austin had a plan that he proposed to Vince the night before King of the Ring. He suggested a radical character change in which he became a beer-drinking, foul-mouth villian that the fans would ecevtually love. At first the Fans despised Austin as he beat Jake "the snake" Roberts in the KOTR finals. Soon however they realised that Austin was against Vince and in so developed a huge following. His character was the first of its kind to be so toaly loved by the fans. I remember J.R once saying "....10 years ago the fans would have hated this guy". This goes to show how much WWF has changed.
Recently, at Wrestlemania, Austin turned Heel and joined forces with Vince and Triple H. I think this is the best thing for Austin to do because he has been a face for far to long. The new Austin is badder than ever. he always said, "Don't trust anybody", and i suppose least of all a rattlesnake.
