Throughout history, mankind has thrived on war. Its almost like a hobby of previous generations and Britain has normally had some part or a major part in most conflicts.
It is almost as if we like fighting and war as a nation.
Lets look back over the last 2000 years. After we had been invaded on numerous occasions by Vikings, Romans and Normans, the saxons fought back. No more invasions would take place. The Crusades brought glory and riches to some. Then we decided to fight a bit closer to home by having a Civil war.
When there is no one else to fight, the English fight themselves.
More recently, the British have fought France (1800's) and Germany twice (1900's).
Yet without a significant campaign to lose their agression on,bar the brief Argentine an Gulf War conflicts, the younger society have turned their violence and thuggery to hijacking peaceful protests and vigilante wars the nation over.
Lets look at it more closely.
Firstly, during the early 80's, a new breed of thug appeared. The football hooligan. Like some form of implanted memory, the hooligans went to the continent to follow their "team" around in a quest for glory. Instead, an element of them decided to pillage, damage and destroy property and cause as much havoc as possible. It all culminated in the Heysel disaster in Holland when a wall collapsed on supportrs and it was blamed on English "hooligans".
Banned from Europe, they turned their anger to troubles at home.
Toxteth Riots in Liverpool were the first ones I can truly remember. Unhappy with the behaviour of police, a lot of Racial tension boiled over into violence.
The same thing happened in London in Brixton.
Hoards of rioting youths causing violence and criminal damage.
But it does not end with inner city racial trouble.
The peaceful demonstrations in London every year are normally hijacked by these hooligans/thugs.
Despi
te high Police pressence this still goes on.
Even now with the latest troubles in Bradford there does not seem to be a solution.
These people seem to lack any respect for themselves, their community or each other. They let the colour of their skin or their religious beliefs get in the way of happiness. It has been the same through history. I dont think there is an immediate solution. The Police must just try and calm the tension that exists until it can calm down.
I personally dont find any interest in it at all. I think it is the most pointless war of all. Fighting amongst your own nation.

It's all so screwed up, isn't it? My dad was a young inspector in the Brixton riots; he then went on to become the Chief super in charge of Brixton: During his time there, his work with the community, schools and churches not even a murmur was heard. Hmmn. Interesting op.
