After an almost disastrous end to the season Sunderland managed to avoid the dreaded drop and even poach Steve Bruce from Wigan Athletic, a team which finished 11th in the table; not bad really! I don't think the Wigan supporters will be delighted though, saying that they may end up with Roberto Martinez as their new manager and he has more than ... Read the complete review

There’s nothing more fickle than a football fan. I should know, I’ll admit to calling for a change in management at the first sign of a blip! Sunderland and Norwich are two clubs that share an affinity that goes back to the 1985 league cup final that Norwich won 1-0. Since then the clubs have contested a friendly cup each season they ... Stop press!!!!! Sunderland have bought not one but two players before the transfer deadline! I think Bob Murray must have mislaid his cashpoint card and Peter Reid has taken advantage spending £8 million on Tore Andre Flo and Marcus Stewart, with Stewart admittedly being a steal at £1 million. Flo is a proven goal scorer, and looks to be the ... Read the complete review

Sunderland have rightly earned the nickname of "the team of light", after naming their brand new stadium, the stadium of light. Sunderland are looking into their best ever season, and with the likes of star players such as Kevin Quinn and Jody Kilbane, Sunderland are looking for plenty of wins. They have also qualified ... Sunderland have enjoyed fairly successful seasons since they were promoted as division one champions two seasons ago. There first season back was their most successful with Phillips netting 30 premiership goals. And last season was still fairly successful for them with them just missing out on Europe, however Phillips did struggle to maintain ... Read the complete review

I have just watched the match against Spurs shown live on Sky sports. What can I say Sunderland no longer look capable of playing football at the top level. During the first half they made an extremly poor Spurs team look world beaters. Admittedly they have a good attack but the old boys they have are not exactly the nippiest players around, ... Sunderland have shown over the past 2 years that they are capable of getting into Europe via the premiership as they have finished 7th both times. This season, they will be hoping to improve on their recent positioning and try to finish in the top 6. This is an aim that I reckon they can easily achieve, if the players work their best every time ... Read the complete review

As a Newcastle United fan, I admit that I may be somewhat biased in my opinion of Sunderland F.C., but as I work with an ardent Sunderland supporter, and even he is very disillusioned with the team at the moment, I have come here to put my thoughts into words. Sunderland AFC are the Wimbledon of the 21st century, their game plan being hiting the ball up to the strikers, in the air as quick as possible. As a result they rely heavily on the aerial prowess of the big Irish striker Niall Quinn. The team has some good players, but without Quinn playing they struggle. Kevin Phillips is a ... Sunderland have impressed many people so far this season as they have been playing very well and have been near the top of the premiership for the majority of the season. At the moment, they are in the top 5 and are pushing for a place in the Champions League next year, although realistically, they are looking for just a European place. In my ... Sunderland are shaping up to join the top six in Britain with the demise of Tottenham and Everton in the bloodline heritage. With Reid at the helm with his great nose for buying well and his excellent discipline of money and team matters, I can only see it getting very good at The Stadium of Light in the coming years. Sunderland are Rubbish! Well they aren't quite that bad! I still believe they have average players! I have been a Sunderland supporter all of my life and let me tell you, nobody is more delighted in how well they have done since returning to the top flight than me. Im a chelsea fan but its great to see sunderland up there. Its fantastic to see a side which has spent so little on players and came up from division 1 prove such a success in the Premiership. Kevin Phillips is the best player Sunderland currently have. Along with partner Quinn, the two make a deadly partnership up front. Kevin Phillips is one of the best strikers in the league and if he gets injured, Sunderland will struggle badly. I sincerely hope he avoids that path as he is my favourite player and I thoroughly enjoy watching him ... Read the complete review
