Also it is popular with the drivers as it is often the last race of the season and so it means they have a few months off following this meeting. By the end of the season the championship winners have usually been decided by this race and so the teams sometimes use this as an opportunity to try one or two new ideas. Although this circuit is very hard on the cars there is normally not a lot of car failures during this race as the end of the season usually means that the cars have been perfected as far as possible and most of the “bugs” ... more

The Japanese circuit of Suzuka is unique on the F1 championship programme, as it is the only figure of eight circuit used each year. This means that the cars go both clockwise and anticlockwise and so setting up the cars for a Formula One race is a real challenge for the technical guys. The race is 53 laps of the 5.9km circuit and it is renown for being very hard on the cars, particularly on the tyres. Because of the challenge of the circuit the drivers love this track. Like the red shirts of Man United, Ferrari have dominated again from Australia to Japan.Scumacher blasted over the line for his record ninth victory along side the great Nigel Mansell. The brilliant German also had enough energy to break the points scoring record from Alain Prost…. These are not the only landmarks the German has passed this year and now owns nearly all the modern day records. His 123 points was twice as much as the second place team man in David Colthard. That type of domination hasn’t been seen since Mansell also won the championship in August. But the greedy German kept the foot on the gas long since his forth championship ... Read the complete review

Its fairground setting gives Suzuka a distinctive look, but it is the great drivers circuit which makes Suzuka the great track it is. A unique figure of eight shape combined with a great variety of corners makes Suzuka a challenging track for the drivers. It is very fast, with a number of quick corners, including the almost flat out 130R. The cars seem to have glue-like tyres round here, as well as in the tight twisty snake section after the start. The track also includes a tight hairpin and a nasty chicane in to the start finish straight. It really does have a bit of evrything. It has provided many great races over the years, including the infamous ... Read the complete review

The Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka may well decide this years Formula One Drivers Championship. It is a great venue for such a potentially exciting race. It is unique in that it is a figure of eight configuration, with a combination of blisteringly quick straights, a chicane, hairpin and some flowing corners. Recent year have seen Mika Hakkinen and McLaren do well here and the track should suit their car although recently Ferrari have made great strides in catching them up. The BAR team may spring some surprises as they are powered by Honda, a Japanese engine manufacturer who will want to impress on their home track. Rumour has it they are ... Read the complete review

Coming so near the end of the season, this track usually plays a dramatic role in the outcome of the championship, which means excitement. Add to that the cross-over bridge, a twisty track and the ever present big wheel and you have a stylish and exciting track that usually delivers on its promise of a great event. The last couple of seasons have seen some masterful drives in an attempt to secure the season. A prime example of this was Eddie Irvine’s stunning drive to let Shomacher through. A number of the drivers have raced here on a regular basis in the past, which means they can pull things off they wouldn’t normally do in other races. ... Read the complete review
