Teenage pregancies, I do not think that there is an easy answer to this one, but why not start with the oldest prevention in the book and the easiest. MORALS. I do not think that there are many girls (and boys) who are taught morals these days. I have taught both my teenagers, a boy and a girl to think highly of themselves in this way. Do not let others use you and do not believe everything the opposite sex tells you to get you to have sex. No-one really likes girls that sleep around, the boys who do go after girls who sleep around are only after one thing.

The best contraceptive ever is the word NO.

Nowadays, too much emphasis is on the sex and how not to get pregnant, not working is it, considering we have the highest teenage pregnancy rate in europe.

I would suggest that the emphasis should be on to keep your virginity and say no. We should be preaching the reasons not to have sex to these children of today, not how not to get pregnant. They should not be having sex to get pregnant in the first place.

I know that sometimes the children grow up too quick and probably have desires etc. but you can teach them to have respect for their bodies and themselves over these desires.

I have read of many teenagers who get pregnant on purpose to get a place to live as they do not like living at home. They also receive money and have to pay no rent etc. This is not an incentive to prevent our children from becoming pregnant.

The government should have an age limit on who to give homes to. If these girls thought that they would be made to live at home until they were about 20, they would not be in so much of a hurry to have babies.

A baby is an easy option, (well they think it is easy) what they do not realise is that it is hard work bringing up a baby alone and that it will be even harder to find a boyfriend who wants you for yourself.

The government, and the schools have to start looking at this fro
m a new angle. The teenagers of today do not need free condoms and the after-pill given to them, promoting the fact that it is ok to have sex, as long as you do not become pregnant.

Then the other hand they offer them houses and money if they become pregnant. How are the teenagers of today supposed to know what to think with all these conflicting messages. None of them the correct ones.

We need to start at the beginning,
The best way to not become pregnant is the word No. My daughter is 16 and is very sensible, she does not want all the boys thinking she is a slag and most of all she does not want to ruin her life by having a baby, which stays with you for the rest of your life.

There is plenty of time ahead for babies when the right person comes along and wants you for you, not for what they can get.

My son cannot get pregnant but he has morals and does not like 'slappers', he also has respect for girls who do not sleep around.

These are the messages we need to be giving out to the teenagers and young people of today.
