Terrorism is not a modern phenomenon- far from it is has old as the hills. Jesus was a terrorist; of sorts because he threatened the status quo of Roman occupied Jerusalem. It's all about ideals and wants. Democracy is no perfect grand plan for existence; even if you are told it is- it far from a sound basis for society. I'm no Marxist though I do rather admire the Baader-Meinhof gang for being so hardcore to the point of violence. Those mad Germans despised consumerist culture and capitalism so much that, well they became outlaw terrorists along with the Red Army Faction and other Euro groups that hate Capitalism. I find it incredibly racist that when one thinks of a terrorist, there is an immediate picture of an Arab spread across the news or in peoples' minds. What about European terrorism? Why should Al Queda take all the flak for bombings and hijackings? ETA had a fireworks display on a Madrid train last year and yet Al Queda get the blame. What of the Toulouse based terrorists who have planted bombs all over the rail lines in Southern France? Or the PAC (Protectors Against Capitalism) in this country apparently making threats to attack politicans and to blow up department stores? How about that? British Terrorist groups! We have the IRA already but it fits the media and government to ignore the fact that groups exist in Great Britian, I find this very scary; no doubt its made up of middle class ex-graduates but hey! At least they believe in something, what of our vacuous culture? Do not get post-modern and say I'm being ironic when I sit down and watch Stars in their Eyes or the Strictly dancing or whatever the hell it's called! You sit and you consume!

Terrorism exists because people want to live in different ways and those in power cannot accept this. September 11th was a shocking event and of that there is no doubt, but why did it happen? It was retalihation for America's past covert crimes in the Middle East and other empire building activities. People are not terrorised, governments are! They use social fear to create their military need and we let them because we the people never had power in the first place. We can now go to war on the pretext that terrorists may attack instead of waiting for an attack.

When one million people go on a demonstration march in London and this is completely ignored what does that tell you? We the People have no power whatsoever, so stop pretending we do. That's why I admire people who go all the way and attack something, whether its defacing buildings or planting bombs. I actually do not condon the taking of life but the fact somebody else is willing to do this is serious in their beliefs and should not be dismissed as merely being mad or evil. They are neither, they are fed up and frustrated by their society and governments building pointless empires.

I am not a political activist or even vaguely political. That may come across as cold and passionless but that's only because I don't agree with most political philosophies or politicians. I would much prefer to live on an island in the south Pacific and just ignore the rest of this bloody world! And what if somebody wanted to live on my island and I did not want them too or they attacked my way of life? I suppose I'd kill them (only joking). Terrorism will always exist and governments will persist in controlling our lives because of it, don't even try and say different.

The problem with Baader/Meinhof was that they lost contact with reality, that they thought they were fighting for 'the people', unfortunately the people weren't behind them.
