I wrote an op on my immediate reactions to the events in America. Unfortunately some members took it completely the wrong way and reacted the wrong way. Many memebers had rated it very useful something that I did not care about it was a report of what had happened and my shock about it. It was not written to gain ratings. The original title was not approved of and I did change that to satisfy some people with genuine concerns. However the later it got the worse the response people began to read hours after the event and not realise the immediacy of the comments I had written. Terrorism has unfortunately a place in modern society we have educated people into the shock tactics that this type of murder can bring. Yesterdays villan can be tommorrows hero if they are on the winning side. This latest example is just the most shocking that has ever happened. Nobdoy can condone it nobody can really claim to understand it. I suppose you can make a claim for so called freedom fighters fighting for what they deem to be a just cause to have a valid viewpoint. I however do not think that anybody could do the same in this case. This is terrorism taken to extremes and brings society down to new levels of despair. To see young children celebrating the deaths in America is particulary sad, they can have no real idea what America is let alone have a reason to kill innocent people. Surely society as a whole has a responsibilty to teach everybody to live with each other. A faint hope when we on dooyoo cannot even get by without upsetting each other with our comments. Life is a precious commodity and no terrorist has the right to end anybodys life no matter their cause. My second point and title of the op was to high light the feeding frenzy of the media in all its shape and form. To give so much 24 hour long coverage is to encourage further acts of madness such as we witnessed yesterday. Report it yes but in the end it becomes morbid to repeatedly show t
he same thing over and over, however compelling. It was an exceedingly shocking act and certain parts of the media are over cooking the goose, with some comments being made completely inane and wide of the mark. Today has seen a round of world leaders expressing regret, a few denying any responsibility. The media furore however shows no sign of lessening. Perhaps it was wrong to write an op, it wasn't really an op if you watched it live you just had to let people know. What better way is there than dooyoo? The trouble is it is an act that polarize's views and the later you read it probably the worse it seemed. However nothing can take away this was an act of extreme barbarism and the civilised world must work together to bring any guilty parties to book. I would say to everybody no matter what they feel life has to go on as normally as possible or otherwise the terrorist wins. Lastly I apologise to those of you that I upset no offence was intended .

- 17/09/01 I feel this is not a time for the dooyoo community to be arguing, we ALL, no matter what country or background need to stand strong and be there for our American friends & others, its tragic but we must be a support for people who are grieving.

- 14/09/01 Don't let any of this put you off Cata, a lot of members here have been gravitating to the ops written by the American members, write another of your ops which we so much like.
Cheers
