Advantages: hOW FAR SHOULD THE STATE GO WHEN FIGHTING TERRORISM?

Disadvantages: IT DEPENDS ON WHO THE REAL TERRORISTS ARE.

Imagine the Italians have occupied most of Britain. They claim that 2000 years ago, Britain was Roman.

Imagine that Italians from New York and London and other such cities have driven the Brits out of most of England.

Imagine that a few British 'freedom fighters', partly armed by the Italian mafia, have carried out suicide bomb attacks.

Imagine that the Italian controlled media in the USA paints the Italians as the good guys and the Brits as terrorists.

Well, that is similar to what has happened in Israel/Palestine. The Italians are the Jewish/Israelis and the Brits are the Palestinians.

How far should the state go to contain the terrorist threat? Do the Brits (Palestinians) have a right to protect themselves from Italian attacks? Yes and no.

As a Brit I would not favour suicide attacks. I would prefer passive resistance.

And please note that I am not against all Italians. It's just people like Caligula and Al Capone I am not too keen on.

"Neither Jewish ethics nor Jewish tradition can disqualify terrorism as a means of combat," said Yitzhak Shamir in 1943, when he was a member of the Jewish Terrorist Stern Gang.

Israel is probably doomed by its own wickedness and by demographics. If Israel continues to refuse to give the Palestinians a viable independent state then eventually Israel will be wiped out in the same way that the White South African government was wiped out.

Israel is now hated throughout Asia, Africa, Europe and South America. About the only friends that Israel has left are the British Labour Party (financed by friends of Israel), America's media chiefs (mainly Jewish), and all those folks in Congress (whose campaigns are paid for by friends of Israel).

There was NO ISRAEL before 1948. The Israelis came from New York, Hampstead, Highgate, St Petersburg, Moscow, Marrakech and other such areas; they used terrorism to push Ar
abs out of Palestine. Israel was founded on terrorism.

Who murdered BRITISH GOVERNMENT MINISTER Lord Moyne in 1944? It was the terrorist Jewish Stern Gang.

In 1946 the Jewish terrorist organisation Irgun bombed and destroyed the King David Hotel in Jerusalem, killing 35 people, including key members of the British Administration for Palestine.

The Stern Gang assassinated Swedish UN Peacekeeper Count Folke Bernadotte on September 17, 1948. At a roadblock in Jerusalem, two Lehi gunmen shot out the tires of the car transporting Bernadotte, while another shot him six times.

In 1938, 79 Palestinians were killed by Jewish/Israeli terrorists.

1947 Jewish terrorists attacked and massacred 60 Palestinian villagers of Balad Al-Sheikh.

In 1948 the Stern Gang, together with Irgun, carried out the massacre of the Palestinian village of Deir Yessin.

In 1948, Jewish/Israeli terrorists attacked Palestinian civilians in Kattamon, Jerusalem, and blew up the Semiramis Hotel.

In the town of Lydda, on July 12, 1948 Jewish/Israeli terrorists went from house to house firing on every moving target and killing more than 250 Palestinians.

On January 4, 1948, members of Jewish/Israeli terrorist organisation Irgun drove a produce truck loaded with explosives into the main square of the Arab city of Jaffa. After retreating to a safe distance, they detonated the truck, killing at least 26 Palestinian men, women and children.

1953, Ariel Sharon carried out a series of terror raids across the Israeli borders into refugee camps, villages and Bedouin encampments. That September, he led Unit 101 in an attack on Bedouins in demilitarized Al Auja.

1953, Sharon's Unit 101 carried out the Massacre of Qibya, northwest of Jerusalem. 42 houses as well as the school and the mosque of the village were dynamited over their inhabitants. 75 women, men and children were killed.

In Gaza, in 1971,
Sharon's forces blew up houses, bulldozed large tracts of refugee camps, imposed severe collective punishments and imprisoned hundreds of young Palestinians. Numerous civilians were killed or unjustly imprisoned, their houses demolished and the whole area was effectively transformed into a jail.

In 1967 there was war between Israel and a number of Arab countries. Both Yitzhak Rabin, then chief of staff, and Meir Amit, chief of Mossad, said that Nasser did not want war, while Menachem Begin admitted, "We must be honest with ourselves. We decided to attack him."

In October 1976 a Mossad unit kidnapped two West German students named Brigette Schulz and Thomas Reuter from their Paris hotel. Planted "clues" and anonymous phone calls made it appear that a Bavarian "neo-nazi" formation had executed the abduction. French intelligence established that the two German youths had been secretly flown to Israel, drugged, tortured, coerced into a false "confession of complicity" in PLO activities, and then anonymously incarcerated in one of the Israeli government's notorious political prisons.

In August of 1982 Sharon ordered the indiscriminate bombing of schools, hospitals and apartment blocs in Beirut, Lebanon.

Zeev Schiff and Ehud Yaari wrote that Sharon told Israeli officers that Palestinian neighborhoods in Beirut should be "utterly destroyed." Leon Weiseltier, writing in the "New Republic" magazine, called Sharon's attacks on Beirut, "terror-bombing pure and simple." Some 17,000 Arab civilians were killed in Sharon's Beirut bombings (The Independent [UK], Feb. 6, 2001).

September 16th, 1982:  The massacre of the Sabra and Shatila Palestinian refugee Camps in Beirut, Lebanon in 1982, took place during the Israeli invasion of Lebanon. The Lebanese Christian Phalangist Militia in an alliance with Israel, and under the direct command of then Isr
aeli Defense Minister Ariel Sharon, mass murdered 2,750 men, women and children (according to a body count by the Red Cross on September 23, 1982)

Whole families were murdered, many were raped and tortured before being killed. The principal war criminal bearing legal responsibility for the massacre was then Israeli Defense Minister General Ariel Sharon, perpetrator of the Qibya massacre, and Foreign Minister Yitzhak Shamir, associated with Deir Yassin massacre and assassination of UN mediator Count Folke Bernadotte.

Dr. Baruch Goldstein, massacred 40 people in prayer at the al-Ibrahimi Mosque in February of 1994. "Goldstein is indeed being worshipped as a saint in (the Jewish settlement ) Kiryat Arba. His intercession before God is asked by pilgrims and it is reported that he cures the ill and generally helps those Jews who ask his help." - Rabbi Yitzhak Ginsburg

Rabbi Ovadia Yosef has called for the killing of Arabs - During a sermon before the 2001 Passover holiday, the Israeli Rabbi Ovadia Yosef exclaimed: "May the Holy Name visit retribution on the Arab heads, and cause their seed to be lost, and annihilate them." He added: "It is forbidden to have pity on them.... annihilate them. Evil ones, damnable ones." Source: Ha'aretz April 12, 2001

"One million Arab lives are not worth one Jewish fingernail." - Israeli Rabbi Yaacov Perrin, Feb. 27, 1994 [ N.Y. Times, Feb. 28, 1994]

Head of the Kever Yossev Yeshiva (school of Talmud) in Nablus, stated, "The blood of the Jewish people is loved by the Lord; it is therefore redder and their life is preferable."

"The killing by a Jew of a non-Jew, i.e. a Palestinian, is considered essentially a good deed, and Jews should therefore have no compunction about it."

Rabbi Shneur Zalman's book book, "Tanya" states that all non-Jews are "supernal refuse."

In the USA, t
he International Rabbinical Coalition (IRC) , a 3,000-member international organization founded in 1993, seeks the mass expulsion of the Palestinian people from their land.

Norman G. Finkelstein, in 'The Rise and Fall of Palestine: A Personal Account of the Intifada Years' (Minnesota) writes about Israeli terrorism. At Jalazoun refugee camp, children were burning tires when a car pulled up. "The doors swung open, and four men (either settlers or the army in plainclothes) jumped out, shooting with abandon in every direction. The boy beside me was shot in the back, the bullet exiting from his navel.... Next day the Jerusalem Post reported that the army had fired in self-defense."

When the Israelis entered "the camps after dusk, soldiers or settlers sprayed them with bullets and tear gas, banged on doors and smashed windows and solar heaters, broke into homes, then beat a swift retreat (usually with a hostage or two)."

On one occasion the Israeli army ordered the inhabitants of three houses to clear out their life's belongings in fifteen minutes and then demolished the stone structures. "No warning. No explanation. No legal recourse."

In Jerusalem the police ordered Palestinian youngsters to dump their freshly cut vegetables into garbage bins. Nearby an old woman struggled to prevent a police officer from overturning her basket of goods and was knocked on the forehead by a second policeman. A Hebronite who refused to call Arafat a prostitute was clubbed.

Finkelstein quotes Israeli journalist Ari Shavit's account of what he saw at the internment camp at Gaza Beach:

"Many Palestinians awaiting trial are in their teens. Among them, here and there, are some boys who are small and appear to be very young.... Almost every night, after it has managed, in its interrogations, to "break" a certain number of young men, the Shin Bet delivers to the [soldiers] a
list with the names of the friends of the young men.... the soldiers...go out [and] come back with children of fifteen or sixteen years of age. The children grit their teeth. Their eyes bulge from their sockets. In not a few cases they have already been beaten.... Or maybe the doctor is to blame. You wake him up in the middle of the night to treat one of those just brought in -- a young man, barefoot, wounded, who looks as if he's having an epileptic fit, who tells you that they beat him just now on the back and the stomach and over the heart. There are ugly red marks all over his body. The doctor turns to the young man and shouts at him. In a loud, raging voice he says: May you die! And then he turns to me with a laugh: May they all die!"

Not only were the Jews originally from Israel, there has also been a continuous Jewish presence in Israel.

After Britain, through the Balfour Declaration in 1917 declared its support for a Homeland in Palestine for the Jewish people, the World represented by the UN voted the Jewish State into existence in November of 1947. In the intervening years there were killings perpretrated by both sides. The State of Israel that was declared in 1948 certainly did not encompass the whole of the Palestine promised by the Balfour Declaration.

Imm ediately the State was declared, war was declared on it by the surrounding Arab countries - this was to prove a familiar pattern.

In 1967 Israel fought for its life against Egypt, Syria and Jordan and defeated them in what is still the most remarkable victory against the odds of modern times. At that point Israel took over what are now referred to as the occupied territories which had been occupied up until then by Jordan. In addition Israel occupied Sinai. The latter was given back to Egypt after Israel had defeated the Egyptians in another war started by the Arabs, in return for peace as part of the Camp David talks.

Israel invaded Lebanon as a result of its civilians being shelled. The massacre at Sabra and Shatilla involved Christians killing Muslims. Israel generally gets blamed. When Muslims kill muslims (eg Syria killing 20,000 at Hama at approiximatley the same time no-one apparently cares).

In 1999 Prime Minister Barak effectively offered the Palestinians a state. They responded by pitched battles and suicide bombings.

There are two sides to the story - you have chosen to look at one - that is propaganda - not fact and should be presented accordingly.

I wish you a peaceful day.

wow, you certainly know how to get the masses stirred up dont you. not sure where to take a stand on this. i cannot agree with the brit-italian analogy as the roman occupation was comparable to any past empire ie based on war and conquering whereas the israelis were originally from there. however, i agree there have been terrible atrocities on both sides (both) and am not sure this is an issue that can be readily resolved

I am going to steer well clear of any controversial statements, except one, sorry sidney....but i cant resist...
I notice that your op, nona, is called 'We Are All One', in capital letters no less. I am assuming that you mean the peoples of the world. In which case that includes the Jews. I would therefore suggest to you, that although Israel does not immediately attract any sympathy from me, the way forward is surely to pursue a course towards peace at all costs. The price of war is very expensive. The currency is the most valuable of all: human life. If you really believe that "WE ARE ALL ONE" , then you should open your mind, shed your prejudices and think about a productive way to contribute to peace. Although your comments may have validity, they are ultimately, counterproductive.
Ju st my opinion...and I will stop before this turns into an opinion. In fact, I might just go and write one!
