The terrorist attacks on 9/11 shocked every sensible person on God's earth. Innocent lives were targetted for some criminal or political motives that are not yet known after about two years.
Sep 11, 2001 will go in the history pages as a black day when innocent people were victimised by some group of people just for a show of hatered. We fall short of words when we need to define the barbaric acts of 9/11.
But today reminds me of another black day, a day when millions of people (all innocent civilians) were targetted for political motives. They belonged to a nation that already had lost a war and was on the verge of surrender. But some one was very keen to show his powers. The powers of destruction.
In the books of "History", 50 years or even 100 or 1000 years are hardly any time. The events of Sep 2001 and Aug 1945 will be read side by side by any future reader of history.
Yes, I am talking about Aug 6 and Aug 9, 1945. Thats when nuclear bombs were dropped on Heroshima and Nagasaki. Millions of people died right there and then. Generations kept suffering the aftermath.
There are certain things about Aug 6 and Aug 9, that are too disturbing.
* All those victimised were civilians. Well defined civilians, citizens of Japan. They were not part of war as soldiers. Still they got butchered not as a collateral damage, not for living in vicinity of some military target. But, they were a target themselves.
* Heroshima was bombed on Aug 6, 1945. Millions died, city wiped off from the face of earth. World witnessed such a large scall massacre for the very first time. But some one was not terrified, was not "satisfied" rather. Yes some one needed more, thats why after three days passed another city was bombed, Nagasaki now. Massacre was repeated. Porbably satisfaction came, because no third city was then bombed.
* Japan was not a threat by that time. It had lost the war al
ready. then why was it necessary to punish that nation.
* Japan did not have any Weapons of Mass Destruction.
* The most disturbing factor. All this was not done by some group of insane people. All this was planned, sponsored and executed by a state. A democratic state, a cultured nation.
58 years have passed since then. When we think about 9/11, we should also pray for the victims of Aug 6 and Aug 9, 1945.
Lets pray that that does not happen again. No other nation does that, no other nation faces that.
Lets pray that those who possess power, those who possess weapons of mass destruction dont use them again , against those who dont have them.
Lets pray that cultured nations are really cultured.
Lets pray for humanity, pray for those innocent people who lost their lives on Sep 11, 2001 and Aug 6 and Aug 9, 1945.
