The Arab Spring
Advantages: They got the vote
Disadvantages: They voted not to vote
Last year the Indian government announced they were going to spend $100 billion on arms sales over the next five years. In the lead up to that potential deal Britain had been ramping up its aid budget to India, set to reach one billion over those five years by 2015. In February the French and Russians 'gazumped' British arm companies and got most of the deals, the British furious. Last week David Cameron announced India would now have its aid scaled own by 90%. Coincidence? The official line was that if the Indians can afford a space program and nukes and a massive new army then they no longer need the money, right? Cynics would say most of the British aid money went into the pockets and coffers of the Indian government so they would buy British arms, most aid money from the west always used as some sort of slush fund to encourage exports and business.
Not to be deterred, Cameron flew out to Saudi Arabia last week with the chunky BAE catalogue to help our state back arms company flog to a corrupt regime or two. The press was banned from the prime ministers flight this time around as Cameron, not surprisingly, didn't like the uncomfortable images of him selling these regimes the guns and bombs to put down the ongoing Arab Spring, exposing Cameron and Britain's duplicity here. Some say we helped stir up the uprising in the first place to encourage weapons sales to put the people down again? You can bet your life the CIA is on the ground right now trying to engineer the Arab leaders America want.
Cameron has not apologized for trying to sell jets and bombs to the Saudi's and proud that it protects British jobs. But these jobs are heavily subsidized and rely on something called the Export Credit guarantee, a government insurance scheme that if these corrupt or unstable regimes don't cough up for the weapons and security apparatus to British firms then the government compensates them. Their simply wouldn't be a British arms industry without it. The ECG is often used as slush fund to 'encourage' wars, making sure both sides are armed to the teeth and then encourage them to 'go at it' so they need yet more British bullets, bombs and shells from British factories. Our history is of war and repression and a book released this week reveals we have invaded or occupied 94% of the worlds countries in the last 400 years and any of you who still think we tried to liberate Iraq from tyranny are morons. We need these countries to always be a powder keg. We don't want them having democracy around our cheap oil. That would put up the prices and introduce competition.
It's believed the whole Arab Spring started because of the democracy of the internet, what scares America the most about the WWW. Wikileaks revealed that America was quietly backing most of the Middle East despotic leaders that have been ousted, especially the vulgarly rich Tunisian and Egyptian leaders. In public Obama was backing the Arab Spring but in private they were terrified they would lose their influence in the region as new Muslim extremist parties filled the gap, which is exactly what happened. Egypt is now being run by the Muslim Brotherhood; a party banished under Mubarak and American money and arms, Tunisa the same. The Egyptian women that protested for democracy and freedom to wear western fashions in the Cairo square are now wearing veils and fear.
In Sri - Lanka there was an extermination of the Tamils and yet the UN totally blanked its remit to help stop the cull, a sort of reverse revolution. In the final month of the war 300,000 Tamils were cut off and surrounded by government forces, facing certain extermination but the UN didn't even hold one single meeting of the Security Council to help them, most of the Sri Lankans innocent civilians being used as a human shield by the rebels, 60,000 shelled to pieces and gunned down in the crossfire. Israel gets a jeep blown up on patrol by a Hamas rocket launcher and a Security Council meeting is called within 24 hours. It was very much out of sight, out of mind for the UN with Sri Lanka, a country that has no oil, natural gas or minerals so why would any of the big countries want to get involved? Syria has a similar problem in that they have nothing to offer and so war continues to rage there. For me the UN was set up by the west to collectively spread the guilt and responsibility for not do anything when member nations need their help. The all-important five countries on the Security Council remain the worlds five biggest arm's manufacturers. The UN is simply a legal mandate to help America carry out its outrageous foreign policy.
The Arab Spring will fizzle out and the Arabs will revert back to tribal law they adore so much, this never about democracy. This is law run by men for men and the tribal leaders will end up the Prime Ministers. HAMAS is an example of the mach problem in the region that they need to perpetuate war purely for commercial reasons in the same way America wage war. The Middle East has its own micro 'Industrial Military Complex' and Palestine and Gaza encompass that. Hamas had clearly stored up those rockets they are pinging into Israel right now for the intention of a barrage for when, and if, Israel attacked Iran's nuclear facilities in and around the US election. But Israel haven't and so they have decided to fire the Iranian made rockets anyway, and all at once to try and stir it up again as they try to win influence with the new Arab Spring Islamic leaders for the Palestinian cause.
To me no one is to blame and both sides are addicted to violence and they can't function without it. The Jews want to grow the Jewish state unrealistically and the gangs that run Gaza need the violence to keep going to get paid. Most of the violence on Gaza is normally between the gangs that run the city. Israel's continuing presence in the region has been allowed only by America backing them to the tune of $2billion dollars per year and the Arab League pouring millions into Palestine and the Gaza strip to help terrorist hit the Jews so to appease domestic voters. Some of these thugs who fire the rockets are on ten grand a month! But for me the real humiliation for the Arab Street is the way America have always picked the Arab leaders through crook or foul and so exposing how feeble the Arab peoples resistance to dictators has always been.
What Israel are doing now is exactly the opposite and simply an exercise in saying we have to show strength so to avoid another holocaust. But if Israel never existed in the region the Arabs states would be inflicting that same violence on each other to pass the day, as they are in Iraq and because of that self tribal hate the future for the region looks unpredictable now and worrying times for all as things escalate. Egypt are no longer the Americans friend in the region and that could see things spiral out of control now more anti Israel fledgling governments are in place. We know Arabs can't be trusted with the chance of democracy as we saw in Iraq and so the region could be a mess in the coming years, which can only mean $200 a barrel, which means fat Americans, will no longer be able to drive to the shop at the end of the road. At least Cameron will get to create some jobs with more arms sales, doctors and nurses not as important as blood and guts on the Arab Street to the Tories.
Summary: Run by men for men..
