Premium Review And so on to The Oval once again... (2517 words)

There was always going to be a fag paper between them in this series, literally that in the first test at Cardiff, but it's Ricky Ponting that has rolled the tobacco leaf and lit up the cigar after Headingley as we head to the decider at The Oval, a draw enough to retain the Ashes for Australia. Without the obvious intimidation of Warne, McGrath and Gilchrist, England seemed to be mentally in the competition early on. After all it was McGrath's bizarre injury in the 2005 series of stepping on a lose cricket ball that turned the series England's way at Edgbaston. But England went into this series out of form and nowhere near the winning run that set them up last ...  Read the complete review

The ashes where do you start? well it happens once every 18 months and its well worth the wait. Last time around the Aussies beat England 5-0 in a white was battering and England need to come out with a bit of pride. The first test finished today and somehow even after the critics said England couldnt stop them from winning the first sereis they were all wrong England batted the day out and ended up staying in at the crease so the Aussies couldnt regin the bat and finish the English off. The first test was held at Glamorgans ground in Cardiff and the second test which will start on Thursday is held at one of Englands main grounds Lords. Its hotting ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Ashes to ashes - dust to dust. (202 words)

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. Here lies English cricket that died on 2005. That is how every cricket fan in this country should feel. Duncan Fletcher and Andrew Flintoff were the worse combination. England hasn't won a single competitive match in the series. Losing 5-0 is bitterly disappointing. In none of the matches our team was competitive. When a team performs like this, normally the coach/manager resign or are sacked. Duncan Fletcher is having none of that though and now he is talking about hiring Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath to improve bowling. Currently England are the worse team amongst the cricketing nations. Michael ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The Ashes: 5 bangs... and it's over! (219 words)

Don’t say we didn’t warn you! The Aussie’s were just the bigger, better, and beefier opponents and the crushing cricketing catastrophe hurts. We at least it’s been a nice summer holiday for the England boys, but they won’t want to look over the holiday snaps in a hurry after the devastating 5-0 loss to the almighty Australians. When people paid good money to watch a riveting series, they got the exact opposite. The men from down under were only in 3rd gear. It was just too easy and too brutal. Not a good series to watch for the neutral spectator, an average series. England were simply pushovers! The English team was littered with ...  Read the complete review
