o dear... never have i tried to do business with such a bunch of thieving little pikeys. How people like that are allowed to trade make me want to become a criminal as according to caterham police... its not breaking the law...?that fat mark is going to get his fat face caved in and the big boss man should ensure every thing he has ever owned is insured.DO NOT ENTER THIS DEALERSHIP... LET-ALONE BUY A CAR OFF THEM.
I bought a car with a three year warranty only to find out three months later that they had not registered the warranty but had given me a twelve month warranty with a limit of £500. As the cam belt had just gone (despite apparently being replaced just before I bought it) I am now £1500 down. These people are a bunch of crooks - DO NOT GO ANYWHERE NEAR THIS PLACE!.
Do not buy from the Broughton Group.I have taken them to court, I was in court on Thursday 07/02/08 with Mark Phillimore ,they were given a further two weeks to produce there defence as they never received the documents from the court. If any one out there needs assistance on the quickest way to get them into court, please contact me and i will help you, I will give a full explination once the trial has taken place.
Day after I got car exhaust fell off cost £130 week later brakes started squealing they replaced them but had a rattle, went to a garage and they said car had wrong brake pads fitted. Following day front bumper fell off was held on with tie wraps. A week later had a problem with the steering tried to get work done but no warranty, complained & warranty was supplied. More problems this time electrical was told the warranty expired after 12 months had to pay £300 bill myself.
Bought a 4x4 from these jokers 2 weeks ago for towing. So far we have had several problems with the Jeep.
It was advertised as a Limited SE and is actually a Limited. The air con doesnt work. The MOT is invalid. The warranty is not valid and it has previously been crashed!!! To top all this, the clutch has gone after only owning the car for 16days. This deems the 4x4 totally useless to us and is costing us alot of business as we transport horses.
When we called to sort this out with Godstone Cars we were told we were causing them trouble, we were pains in the arse and when we asked them when the manager would call us back we were told 'when ive F**king told him to' and then hung up on.
This company sells cars with a years MOT, a full service and a 3 year warranty, none of which is valid.
We are now taking this to trading standards, they are very familiar with these people.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
UPDATE - had car 5 weeks and the headgasket has now gone- marvellous!
i brought a ldv van from this dealer which had been advertised as having 24 month warantee i had the van three weeks and the head gasket went which caused the cylinder head to crack i phoned them up and arranged to get the van there i was lucky in one sense the van was repaired un like the rest of the people on this site but they charged me for all of the repairs taken this mattter to trading standards and they informed me that mark phillimore has signed a document in court promising to treat consumers fairly and he has breached this now with my van and could be inprisoned for upto six years so a bit of a result warning these people also trade as godstone motots and have a garage 29 high street in godstone
In November 2005 i purchased a Merc ML270 and i can say that the service i recieved from Bob and the car is first class
Do not buy anything from this sorry excuse of a car dealer. The car I purchased has been nothing but trouble since i picked it up and the abuse I have received from Robert borderlines on psychotic. The man is a bully who threated to attack me if I came anywhere near the dealership to find out if my car had been repaired. Mark the manager does not seem to care what his staff say or do and they will sell you a peice of junk that is dangerous to drive. It is a good job I joined the AA as I premanently break down.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good job I found this site!!
Was thinking of buying a Ford Explorer from these people, encouraged by the lpg conversion and the twenty four month warranty.
Looked a pretty good deal but then I stumbled across this site and reviews of them and I won't be bothering.
Car seemed to be exactly what I was looking for but I think I will steer clear of them and look elsewhere. Thank goodness I found this review group before I travelled!!
I had ended up buying a car from them. For my luck, the car is running now after several problems.
To cut my story short, I had a very similar experience as the previous reviewer. I have paid the deposit of £300 and I was told that it has the full service history and the MOT's from the previous users to support the mileage history. I was told that all the documents are at the head office and will be available on collection.
When I turned up to collect the car, there were no history nor any MOTs. When I asked for them, a guy called Bob was so abusive and told me to f**k off. He said that they can't give back my deposit either. I had two choices, whether to loose the deposit or to take that risk and pickup the car. I went for the second one. Couple of weeks later, I had some problem with the car and called them over the phone, same guy picked up the phone and he was so abusive again and hang up. I ended up spending from my pocket to do those repairs.
All I can say is that don't go there and get yourself into another mess, avoid at any cost.
This "group" are just bullies. Mark (the owner) is charm itself until he turns. Bob/Robert is evil and abusive. Lee is a liar. Please make sure if you have any complaints against this company to contact Trading Standards - I did and I received excellent advice as well as finding out that they have been investigating this company for two years. They need as much info and complaints as possible to stop these cowboys treating people like this. I thought by having an RAC check I was clever - now I'm £300 down for the report which showed the vehicle was pile of rubbish. Mark insisted there was nothing he couldn't put right on the car (even though he saw the report) and tried to bully me into buying it. He lied that he was taking the matter up with RAC. I was very lucky I got my deposit back - but not through the Broughton Group, through my bank.
I just wish I'd seen this web site before I decided to buy a car from these awful people who have no morals. I agree with the person who said they shouldn't be allowed to advertise in Auto Trader etc.
I brought my KA about 2 years ago. Before I brought it, it needed the bumpers spraying, a cd player puttin in and the windows changing to electric ones.
The jobs were all done when I picked it up. Within a week the bumpers bubbled and peeled so I phoned and they agreed to re do them.
The cd player surround was a different colour to the rest of the dash so I had to go out and buy one the right colour myself and get people I know to change it for me.
The electric window buttons do not fit properly and look awful. They are not real ford ones so they dont fit and they have cut holes to make them fit. This is a problem which I still havent been able to sort.
Otherthan these points, the car has been fine. I think I may have been one of the lucky ones. They do seem like nice chatty characters but its obvious they are cowboys on the inside. I wouldnt buy another car from them again as I might not be so lucky next time!
I purchased a Land Rover Discovery from the Broughton Group. To be honest they got a good deal from me and I prob lost out on the part exchange a fair bit- nonetheless the car was a solid classic discovery with an excellent service history and an unbelieveable service file.
The power steering box went 4 months after i bought it and after a couple of calls they had it booked in to a garage relatively near me. I picked it up a few days later with a nice new (well reconditioned) box.
Unfortunately this started to leak again but my land rover man managed to stem the leak and it has been running fine.
The battery was also very low after purchase and they put a new one straight back in.
All-in-all I can't complain and it is my fault for not haggling enough with the part exchange deal.
I am afraid i'm another scalp collected by the broughton group. Went and looked at a car at the end of last year and for once (and last) time i tought i would be impulsive and but it. Thinking i new the right way of going about things i ordered an HPI which was clear, and arranged an inspection but i'm sure you won't be surpised to know they wanted a £300 refundable deposit.
Ok you can see the rest coming...............
Car was a disaster, advert that described it was nothing short of fraudulent and suprise surprise i had the mother of all battles for my deposit to no avail........
I paid the deposit via ccard as i thought this would give me some protection (nope) and am in the same postition as everyone else, only concillation for me is i didn't buy the car.
Has anyone tried to get Autotrader to stop advertising this mob??
I brought a car for my girlfriend at the broughton group in may 2005. They seemed polite and efficient and offered us a two year warranty.
Fortunately we've just decided to have the car serviced by an old family friend who informs us that the spark plugs are badly fitted and cannot be unscrewed and that the front suspension forks are damaged... So we rang the broughton group to ask if this was covered by our service, their response? And I quote....
"f*** off you've had the car over a year now it's your problem"
...they then hung up.
We will of course be taking this to trading standards but be warned!!
NEVER NEVER DEAL WITH THESE COWBOYS!!!!!!!
