Advantages: political harmony
Disadvantages: exchange rate problems
Ok let us get this striaght right off the bat the euro provides absolutely no any economic benifit at all no matter what any economist might tell. the actual financial introduction in 99 was different then the setting of intrests rates actually amounted to something because of the linking of the economy the fact remains that since that event things are still reletivly stable. The introduction of the euro whatever you have been told to any other effect was primarly about creating a stronger union within the eu and a movement towards the creation of an Eu nation state as such it does not make economic sense it doesn't have to because it has nothing to do with the economy. However along the lines of greater european integration and harmony the euro is but one step towards the eventual founding of an EU nation state. This is a good thing howevver we in britain and the rest of the world already have an alternative currency the US dollar this is due to what Stalin labeled as dollar imperialism the important thing for us to do is to break free of the leash of the USA and stand with our european breathern if the euro can do this then i am all for it

- 08/01/02 NU op. Agree fully with grinchgirl. The EU does have it's good points; It can cost you more then 200£ worth of commission if you were to "country hop" between all the countries that have the Euro and exchange your currency each time to the native currency, and then back again. With the Euro only one exchange, usually with your local bank, so no commission (If your lucky). While the Euro is political it also makes economic sense. Your op on the other hand makes NO sense whatsoever. There is no capitalization, propper punctuation, coherant sentances, and content. Rewrite it and I will be happy to rerate it.
