Advantages: easier travel in Europe

Disadvantages: another loss to our identity

When I wanted some Euros to give my grandsons I went to my bank - HSBC who said - "we don't keep them. It will take 2 days!"
I couldn't believe that in this day & age a major high street bank doesn't keep Euros.

I then went to Thomas Cook, asked for 60 Euros & offered my switch card to pay for them. Sorry madam but we need ID before we can give you these!
Again I was astounded - if I had gone in & booked a £2000 holiday my card would be accepted without question.
I am really beginning to wonder if we ARE in the 21st. century here in Britain!

Sorry to rate you low but this a rather short review of the big Euro debate.

ID is required to eliminate money laundering and Euros are still a foreign currency same as any other. Most travel agents eg Lunn Poly hold quantities of most currencies.

I can't believe you would have had to wait 2 days with a bank!

I had no problems, maybe it is a retailers policy rather than a problem with the currency itself
