This opinion is written from a very personal point of view, you see my fiancé is disabled. It just breaks my heart to see the way he gets sometimes, he has really bad arthritis, its in his knees and hands the worst, but being only 32 the NHS told him he's "too young" to have the injections that he badly needs to ease the arthritis, which is odd, because I know older people who have been told they are "Too old". So, what is the right age for the NHS? He has worked very hard since he left school, up till he was too ill to work, so it's not as if he's not paid in taxes for the treatment he needs. They just don't care at all. It all comes down to money, something they will never justify to me. How can they let a young man struggle about on crutches in agony, and not do a thing about it? But, being a stubborn bugger, he never says when he's sore, I'm 8 months pregnant, and he does everything. He says that his arthritis will never be an issue with our children, I totally believe him, no one will ever stop him doing what he wants, but I'm not stupid. I know that it will get worse not better, and what then? Will he be told he's too old then? When he does see the doctors at the hospital, he's just given painkillers, and left waiting for hours and hours, but I guess we've all been there eh? If I had the money, I wouldn't think twice about getting him seen private, but as that’s not going to happen, he's just another person being treated like rubbish by our inferior health service. It really needs dragging into the year 2000, there are too many people being left without the care they need, because it comes down to money, but, I was appalled to hear on the radio news that a man in prison was given a sex change operation, courtesy of the good old NHS!! Costing £20,000!!! Appalling! There are life saving operations they could have done with that money, but they throw it away like tha
t. So, as my fiancé faces another winter (The cold makes puts him in so much agony) not being able to have 5 minutes without pain or discomfort, I hope the bosses at the NHS sleep well, because he won't.
