Digging computers of times past out of the loft and playing them for me is always entertaining.

My dad has a bit of a hobby with computers, now it's like, building Pc's for people. But in the past it was stuff like specturms, amstrads, later amigas, megadrives and stuff. It's the really old ones that get me, like the amstrad cpc 464, playing really cool games that wouldn't get made these days.. Like Jet set willy, a game in which you have to clean the house up after a huge drunken party before your wife will let you go to bed, the small games interested me more than the company produced ones, like the Dizzy games (which did my head in), and any licence.

And of course, you have arcade classics, which just seem much more "right" on an old machine.. playing space invaders, with smoothed out graphics feels incessantly wrong, and it just can't match the blocky graphics and blippy sound effects of old.

So i think retro gaming is great, emulators are good, (though not as good as having the real machine if you ask me), and you can always pick up old computers in the small ads out of the local paper for next to nothing.

Summary:
