The Rock ... third-generation professional wrestler, best known for his time in World Wrestling Entertainment as The Rock. Born in Hayward, California, Johnson first gained mainstream fame as a standout in the then-World Wrestling Federation. He was originally known in the promotion as Rocky Maivia, in homage to his father, Rocky Johnson, and his maternal grandfather, High Chief Peter Maivia. His mother Ata Maivia was a Samoan of royal lineage of Samoa. He holds the record for most reigns as WWF/E Champion, having held the title seven times before he left the business in 2004.

Newest Review: ... complemented his personality; electric, entertaining and stylish. The impact that The Rock had on me as a child (and I'm sure an entire generation of WWE fans) was tremendous. And although it saddens me to think that we will never see the jabroni beating, loud pie eating, trail blazing, eye brow raising, all around, smack it down, people's champ, The Rock on WWE TV again, I'm happy to think ... more

... that he has gone on to bigger and better things in his life. Because he deserves it. A man of his talent should not be resigned to competing in a minor form of entertainment. He should be playing in the big leagues, and he is now. He's hit the big time...more

Premium Review The Rock: Born Entertainer (457 words)

The fact that The Rock, my idol as a child, is now officially classed as an 'actor', not even 'former wrestler', makes my heart sink a bit. As a wrestler, The Rock made me laugh, cry, sing and dance. He had it all. He really was the Great One. There are so many good memories of The Rock that I could share but I'm sure you're all aware of them anyway. When Rocky lifted a microphone to his mouth, the audience dulled their chants momentarily because they knew that something special, something unique and something memorable was about to come out of his mouth. He had an amazing confidence, an arrogance about his persona that did the opposite of what it was ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The Rock: Do you smell it? (385 words)

Third generation superstar Rocky Maivia made his WWF debut at the 1996 Survivor Series , as a plain bland good guy that never really caught on, despite having a chiselled look, he was still a rookie. Without any real in ring experience or charisma to speak of, the stint didn't work well. In fact he found himself on the receiving end of "Rocky Sucks" chants regularly. He decided to embrace the hatred and joined the Nation of Domination, a group formed to fight racism within the WWF. From there his charisma grew, he began to feud with Stone Cold Steve Austin and he broke free from the Nation. Within a year the crowd were now loving him despite his bad ...  Read the complete review

You see ladies and gentlemen, you see boys and girls, the rock, the peoples champion, the bramabull is without a shadow of a doubt, The Most Electrifying Man In sports entertainment!' Premium Review The Rock: WHAT AN ACTOR! Yeah, he wrestels too (268 words)
by - written on 13/10/05 (Useful, 138 readings)

The ROCK is a wrestler. At least that is what he is supposed to be. Everybody knows him as a wrestler first and then after his recent success in WWF he has become an actor of Hollywood. However, to my understanding, he had been a great actor from when he was wrestling for the first time. Because the whole act of wrestling is nothing but acting. The biggest and most fascinating period of ROCK's career is, in my opinion, his fights against Steve Austin. Steve Austin is another famous wrestler like ROCK (this information is for those who are totally ignorant about wrestling). However, I think Austin Would never consider becoming an actor, although he also is one ...  Read the complete review
