Advantages: Writing Good Opinions is Helpful for the Dooyoo Community
Disadvantages: Bad Reviews are Not
ATTENTION DOOGOODERS: If you get the hang of it and are committed, Dooyoo is an easy way to communicate with others and to make easy money! I have been a Dooyoo member for a month today (14- 12- 00) and have already reaped the rewards (a £10 voucher for Amazon.co.uk and a £20 voucher for HMV!). I joined Dooyoo on recommendation of a friend and originally didn’t really realise what all the fuss was about. My first three or four opinions were all very short and did not provide much information on the topic (Check out my Slipknot review, it’s probably the worst one ever written!). Since then I have realised the importance of creating opinions that are both helpful and interesting. For about two weeks after I joined I did not get very many people reading my reviews but that has changed now. The following are what I would consider important factors in being a successful Dooyoo writer: ~~PRIORITIES~~ It is important that when you are writing a review or an opinion your intentions are not money- based. Some people would rather make a proverbial quick- buck than provide important information for the readers. If you think about it, if you write a good opinion more people are going to read it and rate it highly, thus making more money in the long- term than if you write a poor, short review. If you write a number of good opinions word will get about about you and you will have a bigger chance of becoming a Dooyoo Guru. ~~INFORMATION~~ The old phrase ‘Quality not Quantity’ comes into play. What’s the point of writing a 1000 word marathon if your opinion does not reach a conclusion or does not help the reader in some way. As long as your review makes a few points and is helpful, then it doesn’t really matter if it is short (although there is a limit). An important thing to do is to try to get your opinion about the product or place across to the readers. If you spend your whole time providing info
rmation ON then you won’t be providing your opinion about it, and that won’t help anyone. ~~PRESENTATION~~ Presentation isn’t a key factor in succeeding in Dooyoo, but it can help. You should try to make your opinions as easy on the eye as possible for the reader, and one that is logically laid out. Dividing your review into paragraphs is a great way to do this. For every different aspect of the topic, you should take a new paragraph. I have read a few other opinions in this section, and they are all of the opinion that spelling and grammar are vital for decent reviews and ratings. I would agree with this statement to an extent, but I don’t think it is imperative. If From reading through many opinions I can see that quite a few Dooyoo readers are journalists, English teachers etc. and therefore they will expect a high standard of spelling and grammar. Unfortunately not all of us can be as literate as these people. When I am reading an opinion, I don’t mind the odd spelling mistake as the writer might not actually be able to spell the word or it could be a word that everyone spells incorrectly, such as ‘intriguing’ or ‘definitely’. It does annoy me, however, if I am reading an opinion and there are a number of typing mistakes, such as ‘I ahve’. This shows that the writer has not checked their opinion before submitting it and general carelessness and laziness. To rectify these problems I would advise all writers to write their opinions in a decent publishing program such as Microsoft Word, where you will be informed of spelling mistakes and grammatical errors. Once you have written it in your program, you can copy and paste the opinion into Dooyoo. ##Dirty Tactics## Well, maybe not so dirty. These are ways in which you can get more people reading and rating your reviews, but you wouldn’t want to boast about them. As I mentioned earlier, when I first joined Dooyo
o I didn’t have too much luck and was jealous of the writers who were getting around 50 people rating their opinions. I soon learnt that to achieve success on Dooyoo you should take time out to look at other peoples’ opinions and rate them, leaving a comment where possible. I don’t mean that you should suck up to them, but state your beliefs on the topic and then ‘trust’ the writer. If you do this then the writer is going to see that you have faith in them and will want to take a look at your opinions. Although I do not enjoy using this tactic, it works. I hope you will take the above into account and put them into play when you are writing opinions in the future. I hope that you will enjoy Dooyoo as much as I have and will benefit from it like I have!
