Hi there. I've seen various people give their opinions on what makes a good opinion, and here's mine. Information content: Don't worry about what other people have written in the same category, the only opinion that matters is yours! To this end, try and include as much information as you can possibly think of. The most useful information out there is the stuff that people can't find anywhere else, so if you notice something that is not widely known about the product or service you're reviewing, then put it in your opinion! By all means, quote some "official" facts and figures if you want, but the more obscure your nugget of info, the more useful (and more reads) your opinions will get. Opinion length: Opinions are as long as they need to be. If you can adequately describe Mr Sheen in 150 words, then do so. If, however, you need 1,000 words then that's acceptable too. Spelling and grammar: For both your sake, and Dooyoos sake, the better your opinion reads (i.e. good grammar and few spelling mistakes) the better. For dooyoo, it shows a level of professionalism and for you, the writer, people are more likely to read your opinions if they are well written. Churning: Churning is the act of posting lots of poorly written, short and uninformative opinions per day, usually in a short period of time. While it's not against dooyoo rules to do so, you will find that members will see your name crop up many times on the recent opinions list and give your opinions a wide berth, denying you reads. Usefulness: Your opinion is only as good as the amount of people who read it, and so, raising your profile on dooyoo will bring people to your opinions. You do this by reading other peoples opinions, rating honestly, and leaving comments where you think necessary. Not too difficult, is it? All it requires is a bit of thought, and some surfing. Good luck!

- 05/08/01 Ambitious for a 3rd op! I agree with everything, but thought you could've said more. Ben |

- 08/06/01 Good point about the word count. I tend to write very long-winded ops, but that's only becasue I've got a tendancy to witter. But its true you can write a perfectly acceptable opinion on 150 words. |
