I recently wrote an opinion on Dooyoo as a whole, giving tips and tricks on helping the most people, and making the most money.

However, many suggested that it would have been more useful if posted in the tips for writing section.

Therefore I've decided to go one better, move the appropriate bits from that opinion, and add to them- as well as laying it out in a format which I hope will help others to write better opinions!

---------------------------------------------

How good the opinions you write are depends on your reasons for writing them. Firstly you need to bear in mind you won't get rich quick from dooyoo.co.uk- I've made £30 since January. If you write short opinions- to try and earn more money, you'll simply annoy other members and your opinions won't get read. The best opinions are written by people who want to help others. Dooyoo rewards needed to be treated as just that- a reward, not 'payment'.

Also, don't write a review if you've got a grudge against something- the most useful opinions are dual sided. I don't mean you have to say you like everything- but try not to just moan.

I always write my own opinions, after doing a bit of research- and I always make them as detailed as I feel necessary (there's no point in writing an opinion 2000 words long, if it isn't to the point or useful!)- therefore, writing these ops has taken some time- and if I wanted easy money- I'd have failed. However, if I see it as an added bonus from doing something I enjoy- it's great!

I am also a member of Ciao.com (although I prefer Dooyoo). Recently, a member told me off, because one of my opinions was ONLY 200-300 words (minimum is 120 on Ciao, 75 on Dooyoo). However, as the saying goes-
'it's quality not quantity'.

The best opinions, are all over 200 words long- and don't expect many reads if it's shorter.

Howe
ver, being brief can be a huge advantage. I know I don't want to trawl through 5000 words to find that only the last sentence is of any use. Therefore, make sure your opinion is TO THE POINT.
Remember, if your opinion gets boring by the second or third paragraph- people may get bored, and miss the wonders elsewhere in the opinion.

Below, is what I see as the most useful format for an opinion to take:

INTRODUCTION
2 or 3 sentences summing up what the opinion's about, and any useful background information.

YOUR EXPERIENCE
A short narrative of how you experienced the product or service, and what you felt- don't ramble on.

ADVANTAGES
Summarize good points- bullet points are useful.

DISADVANTAGES
Same as advantages- only disadvantages.
ALWAY TRY TO WRITE SOMETHING GOOD AND BAD

SUMMARY
Who is the product good for- would you buy/use it?

Actual facts and figures can also be useful- as can links to relevant websites. However, don't link to your own site- people see it as cheesy advertising- and try and put all your links at the end of the opinion- so people won't leave it half-way through.

HOWEVER- Don't just stick to the same old format- otherwise it'd be very boring! The most successful writers- whether script-writers, poets- or Dooyooers create their own style. Following instructions can get you success, but only inspiration can make you stand out- this applies over all walks of life (and yes, I am very pompous).

As good as your opinions might be, if nobody clicks on them- they won't get read- therefore attention needs to also be payed to the title and the topic area...

CHOICE OF TOPICS

Obviously, whatever you want- however, if you're aiming for the most reads try-

-Areas where there isn't already an opinion eg. I was first to write an opinion on T-Motion- and that was very popular.

-Remember, people on Dooyoo have things in common- therefore, reviews on computers, for example, are likely to be popular.

TITLE

This is very important- choose a boring title, and nobody will read the op.

Try to use a rhetorical question- as they seem to do well.

Also, controversial titles are popular- even if people only click them to disagree- they'll be popular e.g.

'IS Brand X The Worst Washing Powder in The World?'

Finally, keep titles short and catchy.

---------------------------------------------

I hope this will help you write better opinions. Mine are far from perfect (some have been awful), but in the 8 months that I've been a member I hope that I've learnt a bit about what people like to read!

If you've got any tips, please share them in the comments section!

i don't know what happened here, can we just re-instate a bit of calm...

i do read opinions, it's just i have a habit of forgetting to log in when i do so- but i have left a lot of comments on peoples's opinions too.

i admit- i don't neccessarily follow the advice i give out- have you read some of my reviews? they certainly don't all present a dual sided arguement- or go into sufficient detail.

i'm sorry if some people took offence to my asking for some of them to keep their 'gob shut'- but i was just getting a bit angry at people repeating the same point over and over.

to do well on dooyoo you need to read and rate opinions regularly- i know that- and i say so in my opinion. maybe others can learn from where i go wrong?

I believe that this opinion WILL help you get noticed on dooyoo- do as I say, not as i do.

nevermind.

This op has good advice, so I won't criticise you for not following it, but I would say reading around is the best way to get noticed, so I don't understand people who don't do it - even if you're not after money, don't you want to be read? Ben

Most people on here are trying to give you friendly advice, you will get read more if you take the time to read others yourself, you do say in your opinion to add any tips in the comments section. You have a right to stand your ground, fair enough but telling people to keep their gobs shut when they are trying to offer you good advice won't get you very far, it will just make you upopular and less likely to get read at all in the future.
