The Worst Job in England?

Advantages: The success

Disadvantages: The pressure

Right from the word go there will be a lot of pressure on the new England manager. The media is starting to destroy the english football game with there obseen remarks and coverage of the game. Kevin Keegan was never really given a chance. The media thought that he would come in to England Team and perform miracles but it was never really going to happen. Right from the go every small slip up he made was made into a massive thing by the media. This is really not fair and adds so much pressure to the already stressful task of managing England Football Team.

Kevin Keegan had full support from the FA. But i think that he felt that he could not do the job and he is a very concientious man and didn't like the idea of failing. The FA handled him very well and didn't make him stay on or put any more pressure on his big decision. The new manager will need the full backing of the FA and i am sure that he will get this.

Lots of people are saying that Kevin Keegan didn't really achieve that much. On paper there is nothing that special. But i think that Kevin Keegan did a lot more then everybody is suggesting. He brought up new young players into the sqaud and made everybody work for a place in the team. Yeah, ok he didn't win as many matches as he would have wanted to, but he has set up a very good platform for the nest manager to start on. Players like Beckham have really matured into the England squad and i think that this is to do with Keegans managerial skills.

Being the England manager possibly is the worse job in the UK. There is so much pressure, and England having the best leagues in theory should have the best players. England do have some of the best players but it is a matter of them all playing regular football together and working as a team, which at the moment they are not really doing very well at. England should be in the top 10 teams in the country easily, but the way they are playing at the moment they don't d
eserve to be anywhere near that kind of rating. Kevin Keegan realized that he was not reaching his expectations and not meeting the fans high expectations and decided that he would give somebody else a go at the job.

Should Kevin have stayed on for the test of the week and managed England against Finland? i think that he was right to leave when he did. He was not happy and his heart was obviously not in it. He new that he was under achieving so he knew it was time to stop. If he has managed England for the game on wednesday maybe they would have won but he would not have wanted to have been there so he would not be giving it his all. I totally agree with his decision, as if he had carried on the FA would convince to stay on for a few more weeks which he would not really want to happen.

I don't think that there was a better man for the job then Kevin Keegan but it obvisouly just did not work for him. he will have some very good memories from it and some bad ones too. Beating Germany for the first time in like 30 odd years is on of his all time best memories and he will remember that for the rest of his life, but losing to Germany at Wemley in the last every Wembley game with the twin towers watching must be very disheartning.
He is a proud man and new he was not doing as well as people expected him to be doing, but his decision was still a very hard on to have to make.

In a dream world England would be reinacting the 1966 World Cup, but that is not going to work over night. Whoever the new manager is, he will have to work very hard indeed in building up the teams morale and tryig to get them to scrape through to the Euro 2004. It will be a hard task, but not an impossible one.

So in conclusion i am dissapointed that things did not work out for Kevin but he did as well as he could do. i think that somebody like Terry Venables will be brought in. thye need an experienced manager that has managed at the highest l
evels, and who knows We could be lifting the World cup in 2006!!!!!??????!!!!

I am not too sure about Sven. Not because i don't want any manager but an England one. Its because i am a Nottingham Forest fan. David Platt is just settling in as manager and has been here for about a year. But Sven has asked David Platt to be his number two at England and it would be a big shame for platt to leave as he has just gained the trust and support from the fans.

But bringing Sven in is a very good decision.

Good commet Deanne!

Sven, sworn in at 4pm last Wednesday, could usher in a new era, cos the FA are also introducing a new management structure (about time!) which is perhaps the most important thing.

I don't think Sven will have a problem working with Pete Taylor, Mr McClaren and Bry Kidd, cos they are all fairly amiable fellows, and have worked in the right environments before (ie under more prominent figureheads) and now Pete is taking to the limelight like a duck to water.

The important thing is that, for the present anyway, we have a man at the helm that has worked with the biggest prima donnas of all - those of the Italian Serie A and currently of Lazio.

I think Sven may be able to get the best out of the Premiership Fat Cats.

Let's pray that Sven the Swede can make the lads perform better as a team.
