The WTO ... Organisation. / This un-elected group ensures, through a number of agreements including GATS (the General Agreement on Trade in Services), that barriers to world trade are as minimal as possible. Critics say that this concentration on the market as superior to democratically elected bodies is damaging to health and environmental interests, and that the interests represented are those of highly developed nations only. Supporters say that the WTO aids world trade and brings more money to all countries, including the poorest. What dooyoo think?

So fat boy Prescott is slipping of to another sware` of good food and big cigars to discuss ways to push the third world out of the bronze medal position. Tony likes it when the rotund lefty is out of the way on these jaunts with this being his fourteenth this year!. Johannesburg is this months treat with the 60,000 delegates having even more reason not to step too far from the dinner table in the worlds most violent capitol city behind the drapes. Big J won?t be on his own this time with 100 ministers and their back up teams also making the most of the exuberant buffet that would feed a small African country. With 106 of the worlds leaders on show uniting ...  Read the complete review

The leader of the current IMF (International monitory fund) world-banking group predicted in 1999 that if the West continues to exploit the third world, they would strike back through more than protests and anger. September 11th may have not been committed that pacific reason, but it has certainly highlighted a lot of the world ills. Africa is the best example of how the richer countries have used their political and economic power to bring the continent to its knees. Ghana was trumpeted as the perfect economical model in education and resources to be the continents major success. But as soon as the greedy corporations moved in the country as quickly ...  Read the complete review

The World Trade Organisation (WTO) came into being in January 1995, before that it had the rather more mundane title of General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT). The Bretton Woods Conference, of July 1944, was instrumental in setting up the World Bank and GATT was viewed as another tool for reconstruction after World War II. Leaving aside WTO as an organisation then I believe that World Trade is a good thing. The first consideration, purely philosophical, is that setting up barriers is wrong whether that is to stop new ideas, books or toothpaste. The second consideration is that it makes economic sense. This has a sound foundation in the theory of ...  Read the complete review

It seems to work like this. The ultra rich World Trade Organisation look for a poor 3rd world country with large amounts of natural resources. They move in and offer the leader of that country a bribe to take a huge development loan. The only thing he has to do is privatise his natural resources and allow foreign businesses to trade internally and externally with his country. He takes the bribe sign's up for the loan, which is paid for by the WTO nations tax payer's, (you and me) allows foreign companies to mine his natural resources and joins the WTO. Then before you know it the interest rates are rocketing and he cant afford the ...  Read the complete review

The WTO are running scared now as few and fewer countries want to host the capitalist meetings. The protesters attacks and so called awareness rallies have been so successful that even NATO are shifting uncomfortably in their conference seats for next months Washington DC gig. G8 seem to have got together with the Italian government to send a warning to protesters that they are in charge and wont be diverted from world domination. Even 007 wouldn’t throw bits of wood at a fascist Italian cop with a Berretta in his greasy palm. I’m sure in the depths of the covert agencies, a plot was etched to make sure these rallies lost their ...  Read the complete review
