Advantages: They make me happy
Disadvantages: None
Well, Ive told you what things annoy me, so now Im going to counter that negativity by spreading a little happiness around here. My list is not going to include friends or family, because I dont have any.......not really, had you all fooled there, didnt I? (ummm yeah). No, the reason is they are my obvious love, and I want to take you off at crazy tangents and tantalise you. Anyway, here goes:
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
*Sleeping babies*
Well, not just any sleeping babies, although granted, they are all beautiful in this state of tranquility. Im talking about my little girl. I love seeing the look of peace and contentment in her face, all relaxed and tubby. I like knowing in my heart that shes having sweet dreams, because so far in her little life shes not known anything awful to happen and shes secure in our love for her. This sounds very slushy, but parents everywhere will know that warm glow you feel when you watch your infant sleep-its like they will always be your baby. They might have their moments of hell-raising during the daytime, but all is forgiven when they are snuggled up cosy in bed.
*Knowing that My Family are Happy and Healthy*
When things are ticking along smoothly at home for my little family unit, I can relax and enjoy everything I love about them. Sometimes, when things are going badly I wonder how I can still moan during the 'up times'. I think happiness involves a certain amount of reflection on just how fortunate we are most of the time, and to try not to take things like health, shelter, and love for granted.
*Aromotherapy*
Ok, Im not going to go all 'New Age' on you, but I do like a nice scent around the home, and I feel better for knowing that plants and flowers, not artificial chemicals, can given you a natural lift. I have my little collection of aromatherapy oils, and I also have my favourites among them that I regularly use. I particularly like Mandarin, neroli, sweet orange, lavender, and patchouli. Lavender is great to relieve tension, so I use this if Im stressed or if I have a migraine. Mandarin is energising and invigorating-it makes you more alert with its strong citrus 'uplift' scent. I use this if I need help to concentrate (which is regularly in my household).
*Chocolate*
Chocolate makes me happy. I realise that this is quite a shallow 'love', but its also one which genuinely perks me up. A gift of a box of chocolates will guarantee the buyer a friend for life. I am, however, getting a taste for fine chocolates- Im almost becoming a conoisseur!? I do have my old favourites, to whom I am loyal. I love malteasers and revels, and snickers. Ive just discovered the website www.hotelchocolat.co.uk, and boy oh boy are these chocs delicious (but expensive). See, Im spreading the lurve here guys by sharing with you this website of decadence.
*My Daughters Artwork*
Now Im not a pushy Mum by any stretch (its one of my pet hates!), but my little girl is only 4 years old and can already draw incredibly intricate drawings. They are detailed and brightly coloured. She also crams the page with her offerings of rainbows, animals, smiley people, thrones(?!), houses, flowers, butterflies. Theres rarely a piece of A4 left untouched. When she comes out of nursery with one of her new creations, Im dying to see what her mind has come up with next. I think, apart from anything else, it makes me happy to see that she is happy- that her little world is filled with bright, cheerful visions. To see my daughters drawings, is to get an instant uplift, and to get an insight into the world of innocent childhood once again.
*Decorating*
If Im having a day of low motivation or depression even, I sometimes force myself to do something that I can see is tangiably positive. This is why I like decorating. Firstly, it allows me time to think and contemplate- daydream some time away as I get a job done. It gives me breathing space, and a chance to improve my home environment. Its a bit like going for a stroll to "blow the conwebs away"; grabbing a paintbrush is therapeutic for me. I also have something to show for my efforts when the project is complete. Im often found singing away at the top of a decorating ladder!
*Bubbly Bath*
Obvious, I know, but deliciously decadent. I like the feeling of having had a thorough wash and brush up too, so to speak. Shave all the hair off (Im not an ape mind you), pluck the eyebrows, moisturise the skin, wash the hair etc.....The full works can be a hassle, but if you're in the mood, its very satsifying, and afterwards you can soak your worries away.
I must say that I quite like money too- well, not money, but the things it can get you, the freedoms it permits, and I suppose some of the power to control your own life that it enables. I like other obvious things like sex, sunshine, holidays, men, kittens, make-up, clothes etc.....However, my list above is my ultimate favourite things.
Summary: Heres a little something to bring joy into your life- and mine

freediveheaven - 18.05.08 See chocolate makes me happy, then guilty, then full of remorse, then rebellious as I reach for another. What a product. |
