Advantages: ME!
Disadvantages: It's getting too cold to swim!
I searched again(slowly and carefully this time) until I found something which interested me . . . very new and which I had never thought to write about before . . . I thought this would interest you more than _ "just another challenge"
~~Five Things l Do When I'm Home Alone ~~
Yes, that's right . . . I couldn't resist talking again about ME - but this time in a funny way . . . so, come on through . . . don't be shy, you might be astonished! Do you ever wonder what DO I do in my spare time or at home (knowing from my reviews that I don't drink and rarely go out and socialise)? Before you start thinking about anything . . . No . . . I don't '''do''' chat rooms or MSN Messenger! So do you really want to know what I do when I'm home alone at night?
~~Setting the Scene ~~
Anyway . . . I spend over 12 hours each day outside the house; my work mainly consists of using computers; talking face to face to people; sometimes travelling around for a few days. After a long hard day at work, I come back home starving to death and there is my mama preparing my meals for me and giving me hugs and kisses every day.
After spending a few good hours with my parents; they both go to bed and my little brother disappears off with his girlfriend. I suppose I'm not really alone, but I stay up alone with the cat! I can't go to sleep at 10 pm as it's very early to me; _ my night alone _ has started. I might not always do all of these things every night, but this would be my choice.
~~ Number one ~~
~~~Get ready to put on your earmuffs because the new x factor talent is coming to town . . . ~~~
My dad can't stand the noise and loud beat of modern music so my brother and I have to keep the sound very low or use our iPods and earphones instead; if we _ really _ wanted to listen to music a little bit louder when my dad was there, he would keep on complaining about how bad music is these days and start to suggest some really BORING old songs to play (sorry about that, Papa); I really feel half asleep. If I'm feeling brave enough I leave the room and surf the internet instead for a while.
So when I'm certain that he is asleep (this can be known very easily by the loud snoring which most, if not all, men have), I slowly tip-toe past my parents' room, sneaking through the garden to the extension at the back of the house: "Let's get the party started!"
I have a good selection of music tracks - some in English; others in Spanish and Italian - and no loud music goes without singing along! Oh, yes! When I hear a song that I really like, I automatically start to sing - any place, any time! I can't help it; it's in my blood! Besides, it's like a relief from the stresses from all day.
I can spend a good time with myself (and the poor neighbours in earshot just have to suffer)!
~~ Number two ~~
~~~ I can dance all night (non stop)! ~~~
It's an old habit; my twin sister and I used to dance at school . . . and we were the best! As we grew older we were still attached to dancing; I remember when I was younger telling my dad that I wanted to be a Latin dancer when I grew up. You should have seen his look, lol!
It always took my mind off a lot of things and released the happy hormones in me! No good music can go to waste without dancing! Again, my dad never liked us to do Latin dances in public; not even in front of him (Latin dancing is different than other traditional sorts of dancing: it's sexier and has a lot of body movement). We respected his wishes most of the time but when there was a wedding party . . . well . . . we might just break his rules for one night!
So, there is nothing that can cheer you up more than singing with the music and dancing your fears away . . . at least it works for me!
~~ Number three ~~
~~~ Night swimming . . . Yeah, that's right . . . NIGHT . . . in cold or freezing water! ~~~
We have a small swimming pool (really small) which my dad built for us when we were young (labour costs in Spain were, and still are, so much cheaper than in the UK) because he didn't like us to go to a public swimming pool, or even to the beach, where we might get harassed by boys (according to him!); he was so protective when we were children (and perhaps he is worse now) that he built that swimming pool for us, to keep us inside! I'm busy most of the day, and the swimming pool is occupied most of the daytime by my brother and his girlfriend, and by my sister with her children - especially during the summer and the hot days. I like to exercise alone: no kids, no hassle, no brother or sister . . . so I can move wherever I want in the pool . . . whenever.
Anyway . . . the best time to swim after a hot humid day is the night time . . . with colder water, a dark sky and natural moon light . . . I'm in heaven! After all that dancing I need something to cool me down! (I'm not sure I want to do this in November or December, mind!)
~~Number four ~~
~~~ Hot bath . . . and . . . hours washing my hair !! ~~~
First . . . I must wash my hair . . . which takes me at least one hour, only to wash! It's too long and thick and is really hard work; I leave it as it is to dry naturally, because if I were going to dry it strand by strand using a hair dryer I would probably not finish before the next day!
Well after finishing all that, I go straight to the bath. I hate the smell of chlorine on my body as well . . . so a nice bath with some essential oils will calm me down and help me relax; sometimes I forget myself and stay long enough for the water to become cold and for the bubbles to fade away! Thank God that we have two bathrooms or it could be a disaster!
~~ Number five ~~
~~~The most boring bit . . . getting online to work on my course before I go to bed ~~~
Back to reality (and while my hair dries), I sit glued to the computer and do some paperwork: I finish the day working on my online course (surely with a few extra windows open: Ciao! and dooyoo to keep me entertained). I must admit that Ciao and dooyoo are quite fun; reading, rating and commenting on members' reviews is certainly exciting; you learn new things every day. I remember one member sending me a message with _ ditto _ in it and I didn't know what it meant! Thankfully, he explained to me, so I have added ditto to my personal dictionary! Nice one.
~~. . . At the end of the day . . . ~~
Every person is different; we all have differences, specific likes and dislikes; we are all individuals. Just because you don't agree with someone else's OPINION doesn't mean that that person's opinion is not right FOR THEM . . . so do YOU want to . . . SING and DANCE the NIGHT AWAY in the SWIMMING POOL, the BATH, or ONLINE . . . alone at night like I do?
Or you could do your OWN five things when you are ALONE!
