Thruxton CircuitNewest Review: ... the racing is always close and well worth a watch. I do have someone in my family with mobility problems and Thruxton is a great help for those who are disabled. Disabled drivers are allowed to park where you can see the track from your car which allows everyone an enjoyable weekend or day. Amenities are good with plenty of food outlets and ice cream vans (prices are nothing different to ... more |

Being a big motor sport fan I have been to a few race tracks in my life. Thruxton is one of those. It is situated near Andover in Hampshire. I have been to Thruxton a couple of times in the last 2 years to watch the British Touring Cars mainly, and it has done nothing but impress. With Thruxton being one of the fastest race tracks in the country the racing is always close and well worth a watch. Thruxton being the fastest tracks in the UK means that you will usually see a great race with plenty of action. I was there for the British Touring Car Championship working in race control and I can say that one of the best races I've seen was the Fiesta championship plenty of crashes, nudging round corners and rolls (not that the Ford Racing manager was too happy about that but the crowds love it!) I would highly recommend visiting this circuit with great veiws of the track without having to pay for grandstand tickets as you can sit on grass embankments round the first part of the track up to the complex. ... Thruxton is an airfield / racing circuit close to Andover on the A303. The facilities here are very good, grandstand if you're felling well off, public access to the padocks, bar and the usual hotdog vans / souvenir stalls I haven't been there for a while but they let you get very close to the action, not like at BrandsHatch were you're fenced off well away from it all. The mounds by the starting straight give an excellant view of the race - they leave 4-5 abreast but there isn't room around the first corner you're guaranteed some doorhandle banging or shunts. The circuit is very fast with a vicious chicane by the grandstand to guarantee some ... Read the complete review

Thruxton - another ex-airfield if I remember correctly. Situated west of Andover near the A303 - I went there to see a round of the Touring Cars in the days when some teams ran Sierra Cosworth. We sat on the bank overlooking the start/finish line, ate our sandwiches and watched them come around and around. Its better on TV. The circuit as I said is a real power circuit. Long straights mean that Toring Cars get up to 140mph+. This year even the lesser formulae in the BTCC had to change tyres such was the wear and tear. When I went, getting in was okay - geting out was a nightmare. Everyone headed for the few exits and long queues resulted. ... Read the complete review
