Advantages: Internet, starting early
Disadvantages: very busy of Xmas
Well, starting your Christmas shopping in January is, I suppose, one way of getting out of a hassle-free Christmas shopping! You'll be surprised (or not, if you're one of 'em!) at how many people start early! I must add that I'm not one of them! I usually start mine around mid-September time. This gives me plenty of time to get what I want for people. I'm not one for leaving everything until the last minute, and try and make my whole Christmas as hassle-free as possible. Another way is, of course, not to buy any presents at all for anyway. Give them money or vouchers for shops, that way - problem solved! But, I'm just talking about the present side of things here. By the title, I presume we're talking about the whole range of Christmas shopping to deal with, like the food, decorations and everything else that goes with Christmas! Of course, the best way to do shopping without any hassle whatsoever has got to be the Internet. You can buy everything over the web now, so why go to the shops and wait in queues for hours on end? Personally, I hate being in crowds of people. It really gets on my nerves having to push my way through the crowds of people in the shops, and queing for goodness knows how long. So, I plonk myself down in front of the PC, go to the different websites to get my food, presents and everything else, along with my credit card, and hey presto - a few days later I've got the goods delivered right on my doorstep! Shopping over the Internet is the easiest, simplest and hassle-free way to do shopping nowadays. Not just as Christmas time, but all year round! Mind you, I know there are people out there who like to do their shopping 'hands-on'. They like to SEE up front what they are buying, weigh the goods out themselves and like to get their shopping when they can feel what they are getting. So, go first thing in the morning, when there isn't so many people arou
nd, or last thing at night. Anyway, shopping last thing at night in supermarkets can sometimes have its advantages - some items, like meat, are often reduced to sell. So, to summerize, my way to have a hassle-free shopping experience is to:- ~ Start early in the year for presents ~ Shop over the Internet ~ Get up town first thing in the morning, or last thing at night.

- 10/12/01 My hubby and I have completed our shopping for this year already - the first year it has been done so early in my case. We used the Internet quite a lot and I have to say I am planning to start early again next year too... |

- 10/12/01 Good tips. Shopping on the internet is particularly useful to reduce stress - no shops full of people! |
