Advantages: A bit of a mixture

Disadvantages: Probably a bit of 'chick' mix

This list was quite good fun to make as it gave me a chance to trawl through my records, play a few that I have not played in a while (Those 3 CD changers make you lazy) and then, after picking my ten out actually try and arrange them in order from one to ten - that was actually the hardest part.

So here, in order are my favourite ten albums in my collection (and pretty much out of all albums too)

1. Savage Garden - Affirmation (1999). 53 minutes long, 12 tracks. Released by Sony.
I have written an opinion just on this album (plug plug lol) but this rates as my favourite album of all time. Featuring a selection of slow and sweet lovesongs mixed in with some faster more pumping tracks it has a bit of something for most fans of mainstream pop/rock. Great for relaxing with friends or alone. Favourite song - Affirmation because of the lyrics. *****

2.. Leann Rimes - I Need You. (2001) 39 minutes, 10 tracks. Released by Curb Records.
As far as country goes I'm not so keen on Leann Rime's earliest albums but definately like her more mainstream stuff. Featuring songs from the movie Coyote Ugly. Mostly slow relaxing tracks with a couple of more up tempo ones thrown into the mix. Great for chilling in the evening. Favourite Song - Written In The Stars(with Elton John), Beautiful vocals, soulful tune. *****

3. Savage Garden - Savage Garden.(1997) 44 minutes, Eleven Tracks. Released by Sony Inc.
Savage Garden's first album. Much more up tempo than Affirmation this features only two lovsong style songs with the rest in a more dancy(is this bad grammar) style, having much more speedy vocals and heavy on the drumming in the background. Suitable for anytime, would not be out of plac at a party. Favourite song - Santa Monica, just close your eys and drift away. ****

4. Anthony Miles - Even Wolves Dream.(1993) 42 minutes, Two tracks. Released by New World Music.
Going slightly more ethereal her
e. This is a little known album, usually available from what I term New Age shops where you can buy things like crystals, dream catchers etc. Only two tracks on this, both instrumental with no vocals and wolf song in the background. I can fall aleep listening to this album, it is just that relaxing. Favourite track(of the vast choice of two) - Even Wolves Dream. Without a doubt the single most beautiful piece of music I will ever hear, I defy you not to fall in love with the sounds. ****

5. Cameron Mackintosh - Les Miserables 10th Anniversary Concert. (1986) Two CD's equalling 140 minutes over 41 tracks, released by First Night Records.
As you can see I have a slightly eclectic taste in music but have loved the whole Les Mis musical thing since I was about fifteen. This CD is not only the soundtrack to the musical but features the 'dream cast' feautred in the video. You do not neccessarily have to know about the musical to enjoy this but it helps. Do you want war songs, songs about friendship, songs of love or something slightly more humourous and risque - its all here.
Favourite Track - I cannot choose between On My Own and A Little Fall Of Rain both of which tell a story. ****

6. Elton John - Songs from the West Coast. (2002)
I am not sure of the record company as this is a taped copy of a friends but is 54 minutes long and has 12 tracks.
Elton John classic sounds, strong piano backing to solo vocals. Not great for partying but late in the evening when you want to relax grab a drink and put it on.
Favourite Track - I Want Love - great lyrics (listen close, this song is about some very personal issues) ****

7. Darren Hayes - Spin (2002) 62 minutes with 12 tracks. Released by Sony Inc.
A newer offering by Savage Garden's singer songwriter gone solo: Darren Hayes. Very similar to Savage Garden style , some songs you can move to others you can chill to. Using a range of background inst
ruments to back up the vocals and all songs written by Darren Hayes.
Favourite Track - Insatiable, how does a man with such a high voice manage to be so damn sexy! ****

8. Kenny Rogers - The Kenny Rogers Story (1987) 95 minutes ( Ithink, my CD player is reading 95,000 but I suspect thats wrong!) and 20 tracks.
I'm not really a fan of country but can make an exception for this man. Just about all guitar and mostly solo vocals but with the odd harmony thrown in. Mostly slower tracks but since its country there is not really anything to dance to except slowly. Listen to when you want some background - I find its great for studying.
Favourite Track - God this one IS difficult, probably Through The Years or Don't Fall In Love With A Dreamer. Both have great lyrics. ***1/2

9. Melanie C - Northern Star. (1999) 53 minutes, 12 tracks. Released by Virgin Records. Now this is a CD you can move a bit more to. Featuring tracks such as Go! or Goin Down! that have a much more rock feel to them and a couple of slower ones it has a range for most. Guitar dominates the backing with some nifty sound effcts from the keyboards.
Best use for getting ready to go out, will get you in the mood.
Favourite Track - I think Turn To YOu just edges out Feel The Sun though I love the words to both. ***1/2

10. Original Soundtrack - Rocky IV (1985) I have managed to misplace this CD at present but believe it is about 45 minutes long and has 10 tracks. It was released by Volcano Entertainment.
This is my 'gym' CD as it never fails to get me in the mood to work out(or fight!) All the tracks are along similar themes, winning and working hard for it. They are heavy on the drums for the most part with lyrics designed to inspire.
favourite Track - Heart's On Fire. Love the words to this. ***

not really odd just different, if we all liked the same music the charts would look very dull i guess
